    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance polybutadiene rubber blend for a tire tread which can be employed to improve the traction characteristics of tires without sacrificing tread wear or rolling resistance and can be produced at a low material cost. SOLUTION: PBR (polybutadiene rubber) blend comprises of; a first, a second, and a third PBR; wherein the first, the second, and the third PBR are selected from the group of consisting of super-high vinyl PBR of 80 to 100 percent, high vinyl PBR of 60 to 79 percent, medium vinyl PBR of 35 to 59 percent, and low vinyl PBR of 8 to 34 percent; wherein at least one of the super-high vinyl PBR and PBR in the blend has a vinyl content which is within 35 percentage points of the vinyl content of at least one other PBR in the blend, the difference between the vinyl content of the first PBR, and the second and third PBR is at least 5 percentage points, the difference between the vinyl content of the second PBR and the third PBR is at least 5 percentage points, wherein the blend as a whole has a vinyl content of at least 40 percent, and wherein the blend contains at least 10 parts of the first PBR, at least 10 parts of the second PBR and at least 10 parts of the third PBR, based upon a total of 100 parts of rubber in the blend.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a homopolymer or a copolymer of a conjugated diene monomer and an aromatic vinyl monomer useful in a tire tread and a side wall rubber, which have an excellent abrasion resistance, tear property and bending property.
      SOLUTION: A copolymer of a conjugated diene monomer and an aromatic vinyl monomer having a high styrene content, a high trans-structure content and a high molecular weight can be obtained by using a catalyst system, which comprises (a) an organoaluminum compound, (b) an organolithium compound, and (c) a barium compound selected from (i) a barium salt of di(ehylene glycol) ethyl ether, (ii) a barium salt of di(ethylene glycol) propyl ether, (iii) a barium salt of di(ethylene glycol) hexyl ether, (iv) a barium salt of di(N,N-dimethylamino glycol) ethyl ether and (v) a barium salt of menthol in the presence of a polar modification agent comprising water, an alcohol, an amine, a thiol, a phosphate and a phosphite.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amine-containing catalyst system for synthesizing a rubbery polymer having a high trans microstructure. SOLUTION: The amine containing catalyst system is used for synthesizing a rubbery polymer, such as a polybutadiene rubber and a styrene-butadiene rubber, having a high trans microstructure.
