    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear of an engine capable of switching a cam by a structure in which a stress-like load is reduced while securing the compactness of a cylinder head.
      SOLUTION: In this variable valve gear, a first contact part 31 rotatingly displacing together with a locker arm 15 and a second contact part 40 rotatingly displacing together with a locker arm 20 in the rotating directions of the locker arms 15 and 20 are arranged in an area between the upper side of a locker shaft 7 and the side of a cam shaft 8 disposed on the diagonal upper side of the locker shaft 7 of a switching mechanism 30 transmitting a cam displacement from the high-speed locker arm 20 to a low speed locker arm 15 arranged on the locker arm 7. The second contact part 40 is allowed to abut on the first contact part 31 from the rotating direction of the locker arms 15 and 20. Thus, the displacement from the locker arm 20 can be transmitted to the locker arm 15 by a structure subjected to the stress-like load and stored in the area formed in a dead space δ.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve system capable of continuously changing a great deal of the driving phase of a valve and the lift quantity of the valve while securing strength with relatively simple constitution.
      SOLUTION: In this variable valve system 1, an eccentric shaft 15 is formed at a rocker shaft 12, and a first arm 21 supported in a swingable manner to the rocker shaft 12 and capable of driving the valve 2, a second arm 22 driven by a cam 13 and swinging around the eccentric shaft 15 as a rotating shaft, and a third arm 23 supported in a swingable manner to a support shaft 16 and displaced by the swing of the second arm 22 to drive the first arm 21, are provided as a rocker arm mechanism. The rocker shaft 12 is turned in a direction R2 to displace a center axis C4 of the eccentric shaft 15 and to displace an abutting point 46 on the cam 13, thus displacing the opening timing and lift quantity of the valve 2 continuously.
