SOLUTION: The connector assembly provided with an operating part for releasing the fitted/engaged state of the connectors is also provided on the socket connector end, as well as, on the plug connector end. As a result, the fitted state of both connectors can be released effectively from either end.

SOLUTION: The coated optical fiber protective tube is provided with an outer shape that is rectangular in cross section, comprising a long and a short side comparable to a drop optical cable and an indoor optical cable, and is provided with an inserting hole formed longitudinally, having the inside diameter larger than the outside diameter of a coated optical fiber to be inserted therein. Consequently, it makes direct mounting of a coated optical fiber possible on an optical connector that is attachable to these optical cables. Through a simple operation of inserting the protective tube onto the rear part of the optical connector, for example, the coated optical fiber can be surely protected from the end of the optical connector.
