    • PURPOSE:To enable the prevention of reflection without connection loss by polishing obliquely the end face of an optical fiber connector except the half or less of the ferrule end face. CONSTITUTION:The ferrule 6 of an optical fiber connector consists of an optical fiber cable 7 and an optical fiber positioning key 9 and its end 10 is polished together with an optical fiber 8 except the half or less of the surface 11 at a right angle to the optical axis obliquely at an angle theta. The central axis 12 of the polished surface is rotated by alpha deg. relatively to the key 9. Since the gap G of the fiber 8 is obliquely polished except the plane at the ferrule end, the gap can be made smaller than in the prior art wherein the ferrule end is sloped over the entire surface. The connection loss of light at the gap G is thus decreased. It is possible to evaluate the gap-component of the optical fiber due to the finishing by polishing by measuring the distance from the center of the fiber up to the ridgeline where the slope and the end face intersect and the angular deviation of both faces.

    • PURPOSE:To permit an easy fixing operation and to reduce cost by uniting the insertion part of ceramics to be inserted into the through-hole of a housing and the flanged fixing part of a metallic material to be mounted and fixed to the housing to one body. CONSTITUTION:The fiber covering 1B at the terminal of an optical fiber 1 is stripped to expose the fiber strand 1A slightly longer than the length of an adhering part 4 and thereafter the part of the exposed strand 1A is inserted into the axial central hole 4a of the insertion part 4. The pat of the fiber covering 1B is inserted into the axial center hole 5a of the flanged fixing part 5. The outside circumference in the cylindrical part of the part 5 is then caulked to compress and deform permanently the hole 5a so that said fixing part is gnawed and fixed to the covering 1B. The strand 1A is then soldered to the hole 4a of the part 4 by using a solder tank 10 and an ultrasonic generator 11 installed in the base of the solder tank 10. The strand 1A is thus surely fixed into the hole 4a of the part 4 and the covering 1B into the hole 5a of the part 5, respectively.

    • PURPOSE:To average the interference of light of multi-reflected light, and to eanble the prevention of reflection without connection loss by inclining the gap between the end faces of optical fiber relatively to the optical axis and forming the same into a wedge shape. CONSTITUTION:The ferrule 6 of an optical fiber connector consists of an optical fiber cable 7, an optical fiber 8 and a positioning key 9, and the forward end 10 thereof is finished by polishing obliquely to an angle theta relatively to the face 11 at a right angle to the optical axis, and the central axis 12 of the polished surface is rotated by alpha deg. relatively to the key 9. A at the end faces 10, 10' of the fibers 8, 8' denotes the light passing directly through the fibers 8, 8', B the reflected light returning after reflected by the end face 10 and the end face 10', and C the multi-reflected light reflected by the end faces 10 and 10' and entering the fiber 8', respectively. Since the gap is diagonal to the optical axis and is of a wedge shape, the light B is escaped to the clad and the light C in the advancing direction is averaged in interference; therefore the fluctuating width of the loss is decreased.

    • PURPOSE:To form a nonreflective hard phi coat by inserting an optical fiber fixedly in the hole of a center part, and finishing one end optically to an optical coating treated surface and making other end side into an optical fiber connector. CONSTITUTION:A ferrule 2 constituting the optical fiber connector is cylindrical and an adaption hole 3 where the optical fiber 1 is inserted is formed at its center part; and the optical fiber 1 is inserted into the hole 3, which is charged with a heat-resistive adhesive 4 to fix the fiber. An end surface of the optical fiber 1 is almost aligned with one end 5 of the ferrule 2 and the other end side 6 projects by proper length. In this state, the end surface 5 is polished and finished selectively and optically into a recessed surface which is perpendicular to the optical axis or slants properly to a perpendicular surface. Further, an optical coating 7 such as a light-nonreflective coating, a transmission increasing coating, and a light wavelength selectable transmissive coating is vapor-deposited on the end surface 5. The coating 7 is vapor-deposited under sufficient conditions while the whole optical fiber 1 is stored in a vapor-depositing device because it is adequately long, so that the hard phi coat is formed.
