摘要： PURPOSE:To permit an easy fixing operation and to reduce cost by uniting the insertion part of ceramics to be inserted into the through-hole of a housing and the flanged fixing part of a metallic material to be mounted and fixed to the housing to one body. CONSTITUTION:The fiber covering 1B at the terminal of an optical fiber 1 is stripped to expose the fiber strand 1A slightly longer than the length of an adhering part 4 and thereafter the part of the exposed strand 1A is inserted into the axial central hole 4a of the insertion part 4. The pat of the fiber covering 1B is inserted into the axial center hole 5a of the flanged fixing part 5. The outside circumference in the cylindrical part of the part 5 is then caulked to compress and deform permanently the hole 5a so that said fixing part is gnawed and fixed to the covering 1B. The strand 1A is then soldered to the hole 4a of the part 4 by using a solder tank 10 and an ultrasonic generator 11 installed in the base of the solder tank 10. The strand 1A is thus surely fixed into the hole 4a of the part 4 and the covering 1B into the hole 5a of the part 5, respectively.

An optical fiber coat 5 is removed from a terminal part of an optical fiber core 8 consisting of an optical fiber 4 and the optical fiber coat 5 to expose the optical fiber 4 and the exposed optical fiber 4 is inserted into an axial hole 7 of the ferrule 1 and fixed in the axial hole 7 with solder 6. the unexposed part of the optical fiber 4 is inserted into a center hole 8 of the ferrule supporting body 2 and the center hole 8 is compressed so as to be permanently deformed and engaged with the coat 5 to fix the coat 5 by caulking the outer periphery of the back end part 10 of the supporting body 2. Then, resin 9 is loaded to the area surrounded by the inside surface 1a of the nonsoldering part of the ferrule, the inside surface 2a of the noncaulked part of the supporting body 2 and the terminal part 3a of the coat 5 from an injection hole 11.

摘要： PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of an optical connector and to decrease the number of parts by forming an elastic member for clamping so that a plug-side housing is molded of synthetic resin and plural slits are formed at the tip part, and inserting the member into an external housing by inward elastic deformation. CONSTITUTION:A ferrule 21 is applied with necessary surface pressure by a compression coil spring 23 and fixed in the plug side housing 20, and plural slits 26 are formed at the left-side end part of the housing 20 to form the elastic member 30 for clamping, so that the member is able to deform inward elastically. This member 30 is provided with projections 27 and when the housing 20 is inserted into the external housing 22, the member 30 deforms inward elastically to contract and restores itself of its original state at the position of the stepped engagement part 27 of the housing 22, thereby fixing the housing 20 in the housing 22. A jack-side sleeve 29 intrudes into an insertion hole 31 and serves as a guide when a plug and a jack are engaged, thereby performing efficient optical coupling.

摘要： PURPOSE:To eliminate an adhering stage and to reduce the man-hour for assembly by sandwiching an optical fiber into a sleeve which is bisected into a ferrule and press-fitting the fiber into a ferrule body. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber core 1 is sandwiched by the halved sleeves 2a and 2b and is then fitted forcibly into the ferrule 4 by a jig to be exclusively used, etc. Projections 3a, 3b formed on the outside periphery of the sleeves 2a, 2b provide interference to hold the sleeves in the ferrule 4 after the force- fitting. The fiber core is fixed and supported by a V- or U-groove 8 of the sleeve 2 slightly smaller than the diameter of the fiber core. An optical fiber connector is constituted of a hood 7 consisting of rubber, etc. and a coupling nut 6 in addition to the above. The fixing of the optical fiber is thus made possible, by which the considerable reduction of the man-hour for assembly is made possible and the higher economy of the optical fiber connector is obtd.

Consequently, the jack is fixed and mounted excellently on the external housing 9 by the fixing spring 7 and thus mounted on the external housing together with a connector element such as a coaxial connector. Further, when the plug is mounted, the play between housings is absorbed with the pressing force of the spring 3 while the double fitting is maintained, thereby improving the connector characteristics. Further, the decomposition and cleaning of the ferrules are facilitated.

The ferrule 3 consists of zirconia ceramic, and a fine hole 4 for inserting the optical fiber 1 is formed on the center axis. As for the zirconia ceramic of a material of the ferrule 3, its bending strength is strong about two times comparing with alumina, and the Young's modulus is small about two times, therefore, a ferrule having a large toughness is obtained. In this way, the ferrule 3 is not damaged even by a shock which is given in case of a connecting work for coupling a plug to an adapter, or in case when the plug has been dropped by mistake onto a desk or a floor.

The plug 5 is fixed against the external force and the stable connection state is maintained by the pawl 15 and the tapered part 9.

Then, a projection part 4b which is locked along with an adapter during the fitting is provided and the split ring 5 is provided on the outer periphery of the slit 4a so as to prevent a decrease in elasticity owing to repetitive attachment and detachment.
