      SOLUTION: A decision is made whether the slot number of a receiving slot is even or odd (step 1004), an FSM value is stored in the FSM storage region of even slot number if the slot number is even (step 1006), an FSM value is stored in the FSM storage region of odd slot number if the slot number is odd (step 1008), and a phase value is determined from the FSM values of even and odd slot numbers with reference to a table (step 1010). In case of a GAP period (step 1000), these steps are skipped and a current phase value is sustained (step 1002).
