    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide segments which contribute to minimization of manual fastening work and efficient connection thereof.
      SOLUTION: The plurality of segments which are connected together to constitute a structure, each have connecting surfaces a to be connected to the surface of the other segment, and one of the connecting surfaces a has a male joint 1 and the other connecting surface a has a female joint 2 to be connected to the male joint 1. The male joint 1 is protruded from the connecting surface and the female joint 2 is a hole into which the male joint 1 is fitted. Then a slipout preventing device and an elastic member are interposed into a fitting portion between the male joint 1 and the female joint 2. The slipout preventing device prevents slipout of the male joint 1 from the female joint 2. The elastic member is compressed when the male joint 1 is fitted into the female joint 2.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preventing the collapse of a working face in slurry shielding, which method accompanies a low risk of the collapse of a working face caused by slurry separation and power failure to keep the working face stable during a long period of suspension of shield propulsion. SOLUTION: In slurry shielding, slurry is supplied into a chamber 5 in front of a bulkhead disposed in a shield machine 1 to prevent the collapse of a working face 10 while drilling the working face 10 to propel the shield machine 1.
