    • PURPOSE:To moderate discharging flow and to prevent entraping of powder by communicating molten metal through plural branched passages and the branched passages at the downstream side through a communicating passage, joining and colliding the molten metal, reducing velocity energy and discharging. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal is introduced in the upper end of an immersion nozzle 1 from a tundish and branched into a first branched passage 1 and a second branched passage 12 and flowed down through each branched passages 11, 12. As the molten metal through the first branched passage 11 is joined so as to collide to the molten metal flowing down a second branched passage 12 through the communicating passage 16 formed at the lower end part of an inner cylinder 6 from the almost horizontal direction because the lower end of the branched passage 11 is closed. By this method, the molten metals flowed clown through the first branched passage 11 and the second branched passage 12 are acted so as to reduce mutual velocity energy. Therefore, a discharging flows from discharging holes 14, 15 are reduced and become gentle to prevent the entraping of the powder caused by stirring.

    • PURPOSE:To effectively cope with change of continuous casting of different kinds of steels or casting velocity by making the mold copper plate at inserting side of a rectangular mold adjustable toward opening direction at the lower end thereof together with a backup frame. CONSTITUTION:A U-shaped notching groove 15 is formed at back face of a long side frame 3 and back faces of upper frame 3V and lower frame 3L are connected with a hydraulic cylinder 16, and at the time of working the hydraulic cylinder 16, the lower frame 3L is swung with the notching groove 15 as center so as to change the taper. Thermocouple 17 is embedded so that the junction point is positioned in a long side copper plate 1, and the signal is processed with a controller 19 to change stroke of the hydraulic cylinder 16. As tapered rate of the long side wall in the mold in accordance with shrinkage of a cast slab can be changed according to the casting condition, this equipment can effectively cope with change of conditions and the high velocity casting is possible.
