    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of generating simply reliable zero-gas air.
      SOLUTION: A permeable metal partition 8 is set inside a container 4, and an adsorbent 6 is filled outside. The air in an inside space 10 is purified by the adsorbent 6, and a sensor probe 12 is inserted, and the air is used as clean air for zero-point calibration. Though a granular active carbon is used for the adsorbent 6 in an execution sample, its shape can be selected optionally, for example, a sheet shape. The metal partition 8 may be formed by sticking a wire mesh for preventing invasion of fine powder of the adsorbent 6 or a gas permeable membrane such as a polytetrafluoroethylene film or the like onto a metal cylinder provided with many small holes.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas detection apparatus and a gas detection method which are capable of quickly discriminating natural gas from underground methane.SOLUTION: A search mode for detecting combustible gas in sampled gas, a methane detection mode for, when detecting the combustible gas in the search mode, supplying a predetermined quantity of the sampled gas to a column together with carrier gas and detecting methane from gas passed through the column, and a non-methane detection mode for, after detecting the methane in the methane detection mode, supplying the carrier gas to the column from an opposite direction and detecting gas returned from the column are executed. When detecting the methane in the methane detection mode and detecting the combustible gas other than the methane in the non-methane detection mode, leakage of natural gas is determined. It is possible to quickly discriminate natural gas from underground methane.
