摘要： PURPOSE:To automatically remove the slack of optical fibers at the time of clamping these optical fibers with the clamping mechanism of an optical fiber device for clamping the optical fibers in a reinforcing position where the juncture of the optical fibers welded to each other within the optical fiber welding device is reinforced. CONSTITUTION:An upper clamp 5 is closed onto an under clamp 9 at the time of clamping, by which a clamping member 7 is elastically brought into pressurized contact with the optical fibers 3 by energization of a spring 6. The optical fiber 3 is clamped by this member and the clamping member 11 and further the clamping member is turned counterclockwise around an axis 7a as a fulcrum, by which the optical fiber 3 is pulled leftward. The slack of the optical fiber 3 is removed by this pulling.

摘要： PURPOSE:To provide the fusion splicing machine for coated optical fibers which integrally and vertically moves a scalping station, a fusing station and a microscope. CONSTITUTION:A moving base 2 is freely vertically movably mounted on a base plate 1. The scalping station 4, the fusing station 5 and the microscope 6 are integrally fixed and disposed successively from the lower side toward the upper side on this moving base 2. The coated optical fibers are aligned to the scalping station 4 in the supply position of the coated optical fibers and are subjected to scalping. In succession, the end faces of the bare optical fibers exposed by the scalping are cut. The moving base 3 is then lowered to align the position of the fusing station 5 to the supply position of the coated optical fibers. While the bare optical fibers set in a V-groove block are observed by the microscope 6, the axes of the fibers are aligned and electricity is discharged by electrodes 21a, 21b, by which the coated optical fibers are fusion spliced.

CONSTITUTION:An image pickup camera 10 is provided above the bare optical fibers 5 to be connected by fusion splicing and the coated optical fibers 4a and 4b are moved and aligned so that the right and left parts of an image plane picked up by the image pickup camera 10 are equal in brightness on scanning lines crossing the bare optical fibers. Further, the brightness of the overall length of the scanning lines is found in the right half part and lower half part of the image pickup image plane and used to confirm the number of the bare optical fibers 5 from reference data on the previously given number of coated optical fibers and brightness.

CONSTITUTION:Both sides of the fusion-spliced coated optical fibers 1a and 1b are clamped by the grip part 13a of an arm 5a for conveyance and the grip part 13b of an arm 5b for conveyance across their fusion-spliced connection part, and a 1st eccentric shaft 7 and a 2nd eccentric shaft 8 are rotated by a specific quantity at the same time by driving an eccentric motor 10 to rotate, for example, the arm 5a for conveyance clockwise around a fulcrum axis 12a of rotation corresponding to the quantities of eccentricity of the eccentric shafts 7 and 8; and the 2nd eccentric shaft 8 is similarly rotated counter clockwise to move the grip parts 13a and 13b by the same quantity in separating directions corresponding to the quantity of eccentricity, the coated optical fibers 1a and 1b are tensed while the fusion-spliced connection part is held at the center position to remove the slack, and they are conveyed to the next operation station.

摘要： PURPOSE:To save the labor for coated optical fiber supply operation by clamping and setting a coated optical fiber on the stationary surface of each opening part of a cassette frame body. CONSTITUTION:When a lever 5 rotates against the energizing force of a spring 10, a clamp member 7 is opened, so the coated optical fiber 9 is inserted into its gap and set on the stationary surface 3 of the opening part 2. Then when the lever 5 is released from rotating to return, the member 7 presses the coated optical fiber 9 against the stationary surface side to clamp it, so the coated optical fiber 9 has its position restricted by a guide plate 4 and the member 7 and is set on the stationary surface 3. This setting operation is performed for each opening part 2 to set plural coated optical fibers 9 on the installation surfaces of the respective opening parts. The coated optical fiber supply cassette where the coated optical fibers 9 are set is mounted on an automatic connection device, which is driven to take the set coated optical fibers 9 out one after another, so that they are supplied to the specific operation process position of the automatic connection device.

The work in the first work region and the work in the second work region are thereafter executed in parallel.

摘要： PURPOSE:To provide the scalping device for small-sized coated optical fibers which does not occupy a space in a direction where the coated optical fibers to be connected are supplied. CONSTITUTION:A scalping blade 13a is provided on the right end side of a scalping base plate 14 and a scalping blade 13b is provided on the left end side of this base plate 14. The scalping blade 13a and the scalping blade 13b are provided by shifting the positions in forward and backward directions orthogonal with each other in the direction where the coated optical fibers 11a, 11b are supplied. To scalp the coated optical fiber 11a and the coated optical fiber 11b, the coated optical fiber 11a is projected by as much as the length of scalping to the scalping base plate 14 side from the scalping blade 13a and similarly the coated optical fiber 11b is projected to the scalping base plate 14 side by as much as the scalping length from the scalping blade 13b. The coating members of the coated optical fibers are lanced by the scalping blade 13a and the scalping blade 13b. The coated optical fiber 11a is then pulled off rightward by a fiber gripping part 12a and the coated optical fiber 11b is pulled off leftward by a fiber gripping part 12b. The coated optical fibers 11a 11b are thus simultaneously scalped.
