    • PURPOSE:To enable simultaneous monitoring of both of an arc and welding surface by reflecting the light of the arc of welding by using a mirror so as to irradiate the welding surface thereby decreasing the difference in luminance between the arc and the welding surface. CONSTITUTION:Light of an arc 2 generated by a welding rod 1 is reflected by using a mirror 7 to irradiate a welding surface (groove, pool, etc.) 3 thereby decreasing the difference in luminance between the arc 2 and the surface 3 and monitoring simultaneously both. An elliptical mirror is more particularly preferably used as the mirror 7 and the focus 7A thereof is made coincident with the center of the arc 2. The welding surface is regarded a plane mirror and the mirror 7 is disposed in such a way that the focus 7A' of the image 7' of the mirror 7 by said mirror coincides with the center of the incident pupil of an objective lens provided in an optical system 4 such as a fiber scope or the like connecting to a TV. The light reflected from the mirror 7 is thus made incident most effectively to the optical system 4 by which the difference in the luminance between the arc 2 and the surface 3 is decreased.

    • PURPOSE:To change focal lengths of a convex lens, a concave lens, and a plane disc, by applying pulses to piezoelectric elements, which are provided on outside circumferences of the convex lens, the concave lens, and the plane disc, to distort them. CONSTITUTION:Piezoelectric elements 4 are arranged at uniform intervals in the circumferential direction on respective outside circumference of a convex lens 1, a concave lens 2, and a plane disc 3, and rings 5 are provided on the outside of piezoelectric elements 4 to fix piezoelectric elements 4. A pulse voltage is applied to piezoelectric elements 4 to distort them, and the convex lens 1, the concave lens 2, and the plane disc 3 are deformed by this distortion to change their focal lengths. It is desirable that the convex lens 1, the concave lens 2, and the plane disc 3 are formed with materials having a large optical modulation effect such as GaP, PbMoO4, or LiNbO3. Since the change of the focus causes the change of the energy density on a certain plane, it is used to produce a perforating work machine using the laser.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent reduction of the signal effective transmission speed by decoding or demodulating only a series signal having the largest amplitude among mixed signals. CONSTITUTION:An optical signal S11 passes through an optical branching device 12 and an optical confluence device 13 and its level is largely decreased. An optical signal via a terminal section 14 is sent from an optical transmitter 17 as an optical signal S12 and confluents together the optical signal S11 at the output of the optical confluence device 13. A mixed signal S13 is converted into an electric signal by a photoelectric converter 19 of an optical receiver 18 and a signal discriminator 20 discriminates '1' or '0' in reference with a threshold level set in advance and outputs an output signal S14 based on the result of criterion. In this case, a level controller 21 always set the threshold level for the signal discriminator 20 between the amplitude level of the series signal having the maximum level and the amplitude of the series signal having the 2nd highest level. Thus, the reduction of the effective transmission speed of the signal is solved.
