摘要： PURPOSE:To provide a fault section detecting system for detecting fault point at a high speed in which transmission efficiency is enhanced by reducing the amount of data to be transmitted. CONSTITUTION:Current flowing through a cable or an overhead line 1 is detected at points A and B through a CT 2. A quantizing means 3a in a fault detector 3 quantizes detected signals (ao) to produce a waveform as shown by a1, a2,... and time series information comprising time information at rising and falling points of the waveform and positive/negative phase information is stored in a memory 3b. The time series information is then transmitted on a transmission path 4 to the fault detector 3 at point B. A receiver 3d receives the time series information transmitted from point B and delivers it, along with time series information detected at point A, to a memory decision part 3e. The memory decision part 3e writes the time series information transmitted from point B in the memory device and compares the phase of time series information detected at point A with that detected at point B thus making a decision whether the fault point is on the inside or outside of point A or B.

One portion of the output of the adder 12 is fed back to the emission portion 1 through a feedback circuit 5 and an light emitting device drive circuit 13, thus enabling temperature characteristics to be improved greatly and obtaining a stable output.
