SOLUTION: A bar body having magnetic head elements 12 and ELG elements 14 formed alternately and adjacently is polished while the resistance values of the sensing parts of the ELG elements 14 are monitored and after the polishing, the ELG element parts 14 are cut always to separate the individual magnetic head elements 12: and a lead-out layer 32 connected to the sense part of an ELG element 14 is connected to the nearby internal lead-out layer 42 of an adjacent magnetic head element 12 through a connection part 52 and a pad 20b for external connection which is formed on the top surface of a lead-out terminal column 41 near an ELG element 14 and is connected to the internal lead-out layer 42 and the monitor pad 22a of the ELG element 14 are connected through a connection part 51 to use the terminal column 41 for both the magnetic head 12 and ELG element 14.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce variation in coefft. of friction and to increase the life of the medium by forcibly impregnating a porous magnetic coating film formed on a nonmagnetic substrate with a lubricant to the over-saturation amount and then wiping off the excess lubricant. CONSTITUTION:The medium 3 coated with the lubricant to the over-saturation amount is rotated in a specified speed, on which a tape 10 made of dust-free cloth is pressed by a slider at a specific pressure, while an imprinting device 7 is moved back and force in the radius direction of the medium. Thereby, the lubricant provided on the surface of the magnetic coating film is forced to permeate in the pores of the coating film, so that the pores hold the saturation amount of the lubricant. The tape of dust-free cloth 10 is unwound from the unwinding roll 11 to supply constantly a new tape to a slider 9 while the used tape 10 is wound up by the winding roll. Thus, the excess lubricant on the magnetic coating film is wiped off.

    • PURPOSE:To control simply the layer thickness of magnetic paint on a disc base by providing a process dropping a paint, a leaving process and a layer thickness measuring process so as to control the leaving period depending on the measured layer thickness. CONSTITUTION:If the viscosity of paint is changed due to secular change in coating the magnetic paint through the turning of the base, the layer thickness is changed. Then the process F1 dropping the paint, the leaving period and the process F6 measuring the paint layer thickness after the end of the drying process F5 are provided. In making the measured layer thickness thicker, the shaking off time of the shaking-off process F3 is prolonged so as to increase the amount of removal. When the layer thickness is a specified value or below, after the paint is dropped at the dropping process F1, the leaving period is taken longer. The layer thickness is controlled simply by controlling the layer thickness of the paint, not by the number of revolutions of the base but by the leaving period, i.e., drying state in this way.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of scratches on the machined face of a work by cutting off the transmission of a clutch means before the stoppage of the inertial rotation of a lapping surface table at least upon the termination of lapping so as to cut off power transmission between the work holding jig and its drive source. CONSTITUTION:The lapping of a work W is performed by rotating a lapping surface table 1 and a work holding jig 2 in the steady state. Upon terminating this lapping, a clutch means C is controlled before stopping the lapping surface table 1 so as to detach the work holding jig 2 from its drive source M. The work holding jig 2 is thereby placed in the free state so as to prevent its action as braking force against the inertial rotation of the lapping surface table 1 and therefore to prevent the generation of scratches on the machined face of the work W.
