    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially planatarize a magnetic gap layer without adversely affecting to regenerative signal characteristics of a combined head having a magneto-resistive reproducing head part. SOLUTION: The magnetic head 10 has a reproduction lower shielding layer 20, a reproduction lower insulating layer 22, a magneto-resistance element layer 24, a pair of hard magnetic material layers 26 and a pair of terminal layers 28 successively thin-film forming on a substrate 12. The reproduction lower insulating layer 22 integrally has a thick part 22b in contact with the magneto- resistance element layer 24 and a thin part 22d in contact with the hard magnetic material layers 26. The difference in the thicknesses between the thick part 22b and the thin part 22d substantially corresponds to the difference between the total thickness of the magneto-resistance element layer 24 and the total thickness of the hard magnetic material layer 26 and a terminal layer 28. As a result, the front surface 24a of the magneto-resistance element layer 24 and the front surfaces 28a of the respective terminal layers 28 are placed on substantially the same plane and eventually the magnetic gap layer 34 is substantially planatarized.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent pollutants from adhering to work surface by a method wherein the work processed surface is arranged not to oppose to an ion gun while a magnetic field device bending ion beams to irradiate the work processed surface is provided. CONSTITUTION:The position of a work holder 22 is changed so that the normal direction D2 of the processed surface of a work 24 may be almost orthogonal to the direction D1 of ion beams 26 acceleratingly irradiated with an accelerating grid 16. Next, in order to irradiate the work processed surface 24a with the acceleratingly irradiated ion beams 26, a device to generate magnetic fields 20 in the perpendicular direction to the paper surface is provided, thereby enabling the ion beams 26 to be bent. At this time, pollutants 18, being neutral elements, are to be scattered around in the direction D1 without being influenced by the magnetic field 20. Through these procedures, the pollutants 18 can be prevented from adhering to the work processed surface 24a.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to prevent a magneto-resistance effect element and non-magnetic insulation layers on the top and bottom thereof from being electrostatically broken down by burying a resistance element in a 1st or a 2nd non-magnetic insulation layer and connect a 1st lead with a 1st magnetic shield or the 1st lead with a 2nd magnetic shield. SOLUTION: When static electricity charged in a 1st lead 16 exceeds a capacity of a parasitic condenser C1, the static electricity is discharged to a 1st magnetic shield layer 11 via a 1st resistance element 18 with low resistance without passing through a 1st non-magnetic insulation layer 12. Similarly, a parasitic condenser C2 is formed between a 2nd magnetic shield layer 15 and the 1st lead 16, and when static electricity exceeding the storage capacity is charged in the 1st lead 16, the static electricity is discharged to the 2nd magnetic shield layer 15 via a 2nd resistance element 19 without passing through the non-magnetic insulation layer 14. Thus, since the static electricity is discharged via the 1st or 2nd resistance element 18, 19, this makes it possible to prevent dielectric breakdown of the 1st and 2nd non-magnetic insulation layers 12, 14.

    • PURPOSE:To evaluate and test many parts of a recording medium by moving a slider radially of the recording medium and controlling the relative speed of the slider and the medium so as to be constant. CONSTITUTION:The core slider 8 is disposed so as to be positioned radially of the recording medium by a head moving mechanism part 11 and a moving mechanism control part 12 for controlling the number of the rotations of the recording medium and the relative speed of the slider to be constant is disposed. Since the number of the rotations of an induction motor 5 is controlled by an inverter 6, a potentiometer 7 is mounted on the handle of the inverter 6 to input the increase and the decrease of a resistance value to an arithmetic circuit 123 and operate the number of the rotations. Since the slider 8 is positioned so as to make the linear velocity of the medium and the slider 8 constant based on the number of the rotations in a control circuit 122, not only the one conventional part but also many parts can be evaluated.
