    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reinforcing connecting part, reinforcing a connecting part between coated optical fibers with satisfactory strength, and to provide a reinforcement structure. SOLUTION: In the method for reinforcing a fused connecting part S where the coated optical fibers 12 extended from an envelope 16 of a pair of optical cables 11 are connected to each other, a reinforcement member 131 is disposed along the fused connecting part S to extend both ends thereof over the envelope 16 of the respective optical cables 11. An adhesive tube 134 is put on the outer periphery of the fused connecting part S where the reinforcement member 131 is disposed to extend both ends thereof over the envelope 16 of the respective optical cables 11, and contracted. A protective tube 135 is put on the outer periphery of the adhesive tube 134 to extend both ends thereof over the envelope 16 of the respective optical cables 11 and also project the adhesive tube 134 outward in the longitudinal direction, and contracted. • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve general applicability of an optical connector assembling tool applicable to different types of optical connectors. SOLUTION: An element base 52 is detachably mounted on its supporting part 53 in the optical connector assembling tool 50. The upper face of the element base 52 is formed with an optical connector storing groove 60 for storing an optical connector 10 so as to enable taking it out. One inner wall face 60c of the optical connector storing groove 60 is formed with an opening 61, which is for inserting and pulling a releasing member 16 in and out of the optical connector 10, in a manner to be opened for a releasing mechanism 54. The releasing member 16 is formed such that the contact part 63A of the release member body 63 comes into contact with the outer face 59B of the element base body 59, thereby regulating the movement of the releasing member 16 in the direction going to the optical connector 10. The releasing member 16 is provided with a handle; by manually advancing and retreating this handle 62 in the forward and backward direction P, the releasing member 16 is inserted into or pulled out from the communicative hole 17 of the optical connector 10.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the polishing and assembling workability of the ferrule of an optical connector. SOLUTION: An optical fiber 22 is inserted and fixed to a ferrule 24 subjected to polishing on its front end face 23 and the outer peripheral side thereof is axially slidably provided with a housing 21. An energizing means 13 is disposed between the ferrule 24 and the housing 21. A detaining part 15 consisting of an inserting notched part 14a and a detaining notched part 14b is formed at the housing 21. A detaining projection 6 detainable to the detaining notched part 14b of the housing 21 is formed at an adapter 1. The rear end side of the ferrule 24 is provided with a connecting mechanism 25 constituted to utilize the mechanical splice for connecting the optical fiber 22. on the ferrule 24 side and the separately inserted optical fiber 22a. An open member is inserted into or removed from a socket port opened toward the lateral side of the aligning axial line direction of the connecting mechanism 25, by which the lower main body part 41 constituting the connecting mechanism 25 and caps 44, 45 are operated to be opened and closed, by which the work to connect the optical fiber 22a is executed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of an insertion error of base fibers of coated fibers of a ribbon subjected to leading-out by rectilinearly aligning the front ends of the bare fibers by an aligning member (hereafter designated as the boot). SOLUTION: The front ends of the bare fibers 12 of the coated fiber ribbon 10 subjected to the leading-out are rectilinearly aligned by retaining the portions parted more distant from the front ends by the boot 40. Also, the aligning spaces of the bare fibers 12 of the boot 40 are nearly equalized to the spacings of the fiber holes 32 of the ferrule 30. As a result, the front ends of the bare fibers 12 face the fiber holes 32 and the bare fibers 12 projecting forward from the boot 40 are inserted and fixed into the fiber holes 32 of the ferrule 30 when the boot 40 fixed to the bare fibers 12 is packed into the ferrule 30. The term 'rectilinearly aligned' signifies that the front ends of the bare fibers 12 maintain the prescribed pitch at the parallel spacings without opening or without bending.
