摘要： PURPOSE:To avoid an obstacle positively while monitoring the bottom face of water by scanning the advancing direction of a cable laying boat over the width thereof using a side-scan sonar provided for the cable laying boat. CONSTITUTION:A cable laying boat 11 sails on a cable laying route and feeds a underwater cable 12 continuously thus laying the cable on the bottom face of water. In this regard, a side-scan sonar 19 scans the advancing direction (shown by an arrow) of the boat 11 while reciprocating in the breadthwise direction of the boat 11 perpendicular to the advancing direction of the boat 11. Consequently, the forward position of the boat 11 can be monitored over some range in the breadthwise direction from the cable laying position. This method can find and avoid an obstacle located on the cable laying route or in the vicinity thereof and can lay the cable 12 in safety.

摘要： PURPOSE:To eliminate a decrease in a laying speed of a long element such as a submarine cable, etc., to obviate the kink of the element and to safely bury the element. CONSTITUTION:A laying cable ship 11 is coupled to a pump ship 12 by a pump ship towing wire 14. The ship 12 is coupled to a burying machine 13 by a burying machine towing wire 15. The ship 11 waits for a low tide. The ship 12 is moored. When the shallow sea 2 becomes sufficiently deep, the ship 11 moves forward of the shallow sea 2 (remote side: right side of figure). In this case, buoys 25 are mounted at a suitable interval at a long element 16 to be fed and the wire 14, and a cable is laid in the state floated on the sea surface. The ship 11 is moored. Then, the wire 14 is towed to tow the machine 13 together with the ship 12, and the element 16 is laid and buried simultaneously. A laying speed is not limited by the burying speed. The element 16 is laid in the state floated on the sea surface, and hence no kink occurs.

摘要： PURPOSE:To keep the burying depth of a long-sized body constant by shifting a weight provided on the top of an excavating body based on the results from the monitoring of the rise and the fall in the rear section of the excavating body, when the long-sized body is buried excavating the bottom of the sea with a front-inclined section of the excavating body supported on a sleigh. CONSTITUTION:A pair of sleighs 10 are connected together through an arm 14 with a pace left on both sides of a control frame 12 which an excavating body 16 of a right-angled triangle or the like is supported on a frame 12 in such a manner as to oscillate on the front thereof with a shaft 18. The sleighs 10 are tensioned over the submarine surface 20 through a wire 22. The excavating body 16 jets a water 24 from a forward inclined section 162 to excavate the bottom of the sea. In this case, a weight 28 is mounted on the top thereof 16 in such a manner as to move longitudinally and moved with a screw rod 30 being rotated by a motor 32. The rise and fall in the rear of the excavating body 16 is monitored with a bury depth meter 36 or the like, the output of which controls the motor 32 to maintain the excavating body 16 at a constant depth shifting the weight 28 back and forth.
