    • PURPOSE:To correctly detect the presence/absence of toner in an image forming device where a replaceable toner cartridge is used by providing a magnetic permeability sensor made to press-contact with the outer peripheral bottom or outside bottom of a toner storage. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic permeability sensor 29 is made to press-contact with the outer peripheral bottom or outside bottom of the toner storage 8 provided attachably to/detachably from the image forming device main body 1. When magnetic toner sufficiently remains in the toner storage 8, high permeability is detected by the permiability sensor 29, whereas when the toner is consumed in the toner storage 8 as image formation proceeds, the toner does not remain in the vicinity of the permeability sensor 29 and low permiability is detected by the permiability sensor 29. Thus, the presence/absence of the toner in the toner storage can be detected based on the output of the permiability sensor without contact with the toner itself.

CONSTITUTION:The both-end-side free length l2 of the cleaning blade 11 which scrapes untransferred toner remaining on the surface of a photosensitive body after a transfer process is made longer than the free length l1 at the center part side.     • PURPOSE:To surely prevent different color toner from being mixed by providing a control means which forms a high potential part and attracting electrostatically and removing toner present in a magnetic brush in a development area by the high potential part when development is not performed. CONSTITUTION:When an original placing table 1 finishes moving, a photosensor 50 detects the reflection part 51 of the original placing table 1 and its signal is inputted to a control part. The driving of the sleeve 67 and paddle 61 of a magnetic brush developing device selected according to the signal is stopped. In such a case, a photosensitive drum 2, an electrostatic charger 3, and an interimage lamp 5 are driven continuously. Then the high potential part is formed on the surface of the photosensitive drum 2 by the electrifier and interimage lamp 5, so the toner in the magnetic brush remaining on a developing roller 62 is attracted electrostatically by the high potential part and removed. Consequently, no different color toner is transferred onto an electrostatic latent image carrier where a toner image is formed by another magnetic brush developing device and the color mixing of toner is surely precluded.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use an intermediate transfer belt for a long time by preventing or reducing trouble caused by sticking matter remaining without being removed by a cleaning device used to remove untransferred toner, which remains without being transferred to a recording sheet, from an intermediate transfer belt.
      SOLUTION: The intermediate transfer belt 30 is rotated while an abrading web 220 is wound. Thereby the surface of the intermediate transfer belt 30 is refreshed while abraded by the abrasive web 220. This removes sticking matter remaining without being transferred by the intermediate transfer belt cleaning device 40.

    • PURPOSE:To exactly prevent the color mixture of a different color toner by providing a toner eliminating part for eliminating a toner existing in a magnetic brush of at least a developing area at the time of nondevelopment, on a developing roller. CONSTITUTION:In a development supply part 6 of a selected magnetic brush developing device 10, a black developer 3 is supplied to a developing roller 12 and a magnetic brush 16 is formed. On the other hand, this magnetic brush 16 is carried to a developing area 4 by an action of carrying poles N1-N3 and S4, slide-rubs against the surface of a photosensitive drum 2 and an electrostatic latent image is converted to a developed image. Subsequently, a rotation of a sleeve 18 is stopped through a control part. Immediately before the rotation of the sleeve 18 stops, a bias roller 13 starts to turn, and also, from a power source V1, a DC bias is applied, and a toner in the magnetic brush 16, remaining on the developing roller 12 is absorbed electrostatically by the roller 13 and eliminated. The toner which has been eliminated by the roller 13 is peeled off by a blade 17 for abutting on the roller 13 and collected into a housing 11.
