    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic material which ensures little coloration of a white background part and has high sensitivity. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic material having one or more photosensitive silver halide emulsion layers on a support has one or more layers containing an emulsified dispersion containing one or more surfactants represented by formula (I), and comprises one or more emulsions containing tabular silver halide grains having an average aspect ratio of ≥8 and at least one sensitizing dye. In the formula, A represents an acid group selected from sulfonic acid, phosphoric acid and carboxylic acid or its metal salt; R 1 represents an aliphatic group containing a ≥6C linear aliphatic group as a partial structure; L represents a divalent group; J represents a (n+m)-valent linking group which links R 1 -L and A together; n represents a natural number of 1-6; and m is a natural number of 1-3. Herein, the total number of carbons in R 1 (in all symbols R 1 when n is ≥2) is ≥17 and that a molecular weight of each surfactant of the formula (I) (in the case of a salt of a metal atom, a molecular weight calculated by replacing the metal atom with a hydrogen atom) divided by m equals ≥430.
