    • PURPOSE:To measure only the concn. of a nitrogen oxide at a low cost by applying a voltage equal to or below 0.5 V between both the electrodes of an oxygen pump. CONSTITUTION:When a voltage equal to or below 0.5 V is applied between both the electrodes 4B and 4C of an oxygen pump 4, simple substance oxygen in a gas to be measured in a space S1 is pumped by a pump 4 out of a cell 1. At the same time, nitrogen oxide is electrolyzed into oxygen and nitrogen on the electrodes in the cell 1 and the electrolyzed oxygen is pumped out of the cell 1 like the simple substance oxygen. Since the voltage between the electrodes 4B and 4C is restricted to 0.5 V or below, the other oxides are not electrolyzed and only oxygen in the nitrogen oxide is pumped out by the pump 4. Thus, a current corresponding to the quantity of discharge oxygen flows between the electrodes 4B and 4C and, by measuring the current by an ammeter 6, the total quantity of the simple substance oxygen in the gas to be measured and oxygen in the nitrogen oxide can be measured.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an injection hole as a finely small diameter, uniformize work accuracy, and improve mass productivity by constituting an orifice plate of a fuel injection nozzle out of a sintered body. SOLUTION: A fuel injection nozzle 20 has an orifice plate 21 and a plate holder 22 in a tip part of a nozzle body 2, and the plate holder 22 is installed on the nozzle body 2 by beam welding, and the orifice plate 21 is installed in the tip part of the nozzle body 2. A nozzle assembly 23 is composed of the nozzle body 2, the orifice plate 21 and the plate holder 22. Among these, when the orifice plate 12 is composed of a sintered body, an injection hole can be finely worked when in a green sheet condition in its manufacturing process. Therefore, since flow rate control is not performed by a hole diameter, but can be performed by the number of injection holes, kinds of diameters of a tool such as a punch to work the injection hole can be reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To enable accurate detection of the amount of nitrogen oxide by a method wherein a part of an exhaust gas is extracted to be cooled within operation temperature conditions of a nygrogen oxide detection sensor and the exhaust gas is made to heat the nitrogen oxide detection sensor directly. CONSTITUTION:Exhaut gas is exhausted to be outside via a silencer through an exhaust pipe 1. A bypass pipe 2 has an exhaust takeoff port 3 opened being turned to the upstream side of the pipe 1 and is drawn outside from an opening 16 of the pipe 1. A terminal of the pipe 2 is connected to the pipe 1 again and an exhaust port 14 is opened to a joint 13 thereof. The pipe 2 is provived with a nitrogen oxide detection sensor 4 on a pipe wall thereof and a plurality of radiation fins 5 are formed on the upstream side of the sensor 4 to cool the exhaust gas passing through the sensor 4. Thus, the exhaust gas is cooled with the radiation fins 5 and passes over the sensor 4 thereby enabling accurate detection of the amount of the nitrogen oxide.
