    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer having new sugar chain recognition ability which contains allylamine borate units in the polymer skeleton.
      SOLUTION: A borate group-containing allyl monomer obtained by reacting allylamine with an inexpensive boric acid is homopolymerized or copolymerized with a different monomer to obtain a borate group-containing allylamine polymer having sugar chain recognition ability which contains a borate group in the molecule and has inherent viscosity of 0.1-6 dL/g. The polymer can be highly biocompatible because it is hydrophilic and is excellent in sugar chain recognition ability. Further, the content of boron can be made higher than that in a conventional hydrophilic copolymer of phenylboric acid.
