    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery separator which does not require a special beating device, needs only a short beating time, and is difficult to cut even before fibrillation.
      SOLUTION: This separator is made of a fibrillated material obtained by beating polynosic fibers obtained using a high-polymerization-degree viscose low-acid, low-temperature spinning method. Short fibers whose dry rupture strength ductility is adjusted to 0.35 to 0.75 are blended by at least 10 wt.% of the total blend of the separator, the short fibers having fiber diameters of 0.1 to 10d and fiber lengths of 1 to 10 mm.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obviate the presence of microorganisms in and on paper during use and extremely decrease skin injuries by microorganisms by compounding antimicrobial fillers and inorg. fillers at ratios of prescribed pts.wt. with raw materials consisting essentially of vegetable fibers to object the materials and forming the paper. SOLUTION: At least one kind selected from bast fibers, consisting of manila hemp, flax, jute hemp, sisal hemp, etc., or wood pulp are preferably used at >=50wt.% as the raw materials. The raw materials are prepd. by beating the raw materials to a specified degree of beating by a beating machine, such as beater. Further, the zeolite antimicrobial agents are mixed at 0.2 to 10 pts.wt. and the inorg. fillers, such as talc, at 0.5 to 40 parts. wt. with these raw materials and are uniformly dispersed therein. When the paper is made therefrom as it is, the fixing of the fillers on the fibers is poor and the problem of drainage and the contamination of stages arise and, therefore, fixer 'Firex RC (R)' 104 and 'Firex M (R), etc.' are thereafter used to improve the fixability to the fibers. The paper having a basis weight of 15 to 30g/m is then produced by a cylinder paper machine, short endless screen paper machine and Fourdrinier paper machine, etc.
