    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inflator which can be reduced in size and weight by dispensing with filters for cooling and filtering and ensures that a gas is quickly jet out of a gas nozzle during work.SOLUTION: A gas generated at a combustion chamber 42 enters a cooling space 44, where the same hits a bottom wall 26D of an upper case 26 (inflator case 12) and flows into a gas channel 48, and then jets out of a gas nozzle 26C. At this time, the high-temperature gas and the inflator case 12 exchange heat to cool the gas. Mist contained in the gas meets flow resistance when passing through the cooling space 44 and the gas channel 48, thereby deposits on the bottom wall 26D of the upper case 26 (inflator case 12), and is eliminated effectively. When an internal pressure of an outer cylindrical member 18 rises because of the generated gas, a deformation suppressing means 24 prevents the other end 18B of the outer cylindrical member 18 from deforming outwardly, thus suppressing the contraction of the gas channel 48.
