摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lead-free glaze which can be baked at a low temperature and to provide a spark plug and its production method using this glaze. SOLUTION: The lead-free glaze is used to apply a ceramic material. The lead-free glaze contains 16 to 49 wt.% of SiO2, 15 to 35 wt.% of B2O3, 0 to 10 wt.% of Al2O3 and 0 to 10 wt.% of ZnO. The spark plug 7 is produced by applying and baking the lead-free glaze on the surface of an insulator 1.

A projection part 5c which projects to the center electrode 3 side is installed at the tip part 5b of the ground electrode body 5a and the ring-shape ground electrode chip 5d is arranged at the outer circumference of the projection part 5c, the projection part 5c and the ring-shape ground electrode chip 5d are electrically jointed by laser welding, and the tip face 5i of the ring-shape ground electrode chip 5d is positioned on the center electrode 3 side than the tip face 5j of the projection part 5c.
