Auxiliary barrier ribs 2a, 2b, 2c and 2d are also formed on the back face plate in the parallel direction to a bus electrode, and its cross section has a shape close to a trapezoidal shape or a rectangular shape. These barrier ribs and auxiliary barrier ribs separate a discharge space specified by the address electrode and the bus electrode from the other discharge space. Therefore, luminance is enhanced, and discharge to an address directional adjacent discharge cell part and leakage of ultraviolet rays generated by the discharge can also be prevented by the auxiliary barrier ribs.

CONSTITUTION: This DC plasma display panel has a front plate 1 and a back plate 2 each provided with a plurality of electrodes and placed parallel and opposite to each other so as to have a plurality of discharge cells as display elements provided between the plates, and utilizes auxiliary discharge cells 10 provided adjacent the display discharge cells 9 to provide an emissive display. In the DC plasma display panel, display anode bus bars 4 provided for the display discharge cells 9, and auxiliary anodes 5 provided for the auxiliary discharge cells 10 are formed with an insulating layer 7 between them. Since the display anode bus bars 4 and the auxiliary anodes 5 are formed independently in different layers, the tolerance to machining accuracy is increased, and the reduction in " resistance formation area as a result of high definition can be minimized.
