    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a gathering error in a bookbinding process, and improve the productivity by a method wherein a gathering is performed by automatically selecting printed matters of different sizes and contents, and a bookbinding is performed. SOLUTION: For example, this bookbinding system 1 is constituted of a picture location input supporting system 3, a variable bookbinding data preparing system 5, a feeder administrating system 7, a control system 9, a variable bookbinding machine 17, a digital printing machine 23 or the like. The variable bookbinding data preparing system 5 prepares a section data S2 and an individual gathering information S3 or the like based on a manufacture specification data S1 and the information from the picture location input supporting system 3. Then, the control and superintendence of the overall device are performed by a CPU which constitutes the control system 9. By such a constitution and processing, printed matters are selectively gathered, and printed books of different sizes can be gathered and bound without cutting in advance, and in the bookbinding process of a personalized printed matter, a gathering error is eliminated, and the productivity can be improved.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a properly saddle stitched printed matter even when leaf printed papers by different printing methods are used by a method wherein every time required leaf printing papers are stacked, a saddle stitching needle is pierced, and after all the leaf printed papers are penetrated, the tip end of the saddle stitching needle is bent. SOLUTION: For example, leaf paper saddle stitched printed matter is a booklet such as a catalogue, and a plurality of leaf printed papers A, B, C of different sizes are positioned with their pictures as references and bound by a saddle stitching needle 4, and are folded at a folding location at the center, and the booklet is made by performing a finish cutting after the folding. That is, a positioning member 20, a vertical moving plate 22b and a holding member 23 perform the motions under each paper feeding unit, and on the vertical moving plate 22b, leaf printed papers A-B are laminated while being pierced by the saddle stitching needle 4 in order. In the last stage, the tip end of the saddle stitching needle 4 which sticks out from the top of the leaf printed papers A-B is bent onto both surfaces of the papers, and thus, the leaf printed papers are bound at the center 11 in the lateral direction by the saddle stitching needle 4.
