    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that makes an image by a video signal visible through a background of colored on-screen display, the technique being adaptive to a video signal of high picture quality without increasing the number of multiplication sections and addition sections.
      SOLUTION: Extraction sections extract respective portions of data of a red signal, a green signal, and a blue signal of a video signal inputted to an on-screen display circuit. Addition sections add the extracted red signal, green signal, and blue signal of the video signal to a red signal, a green signal, and a blue signal of input on-screen display for each of the red signal, green signal, and blue signal. Switching sections switch and output a red signal, a green signal, and a blue signal obtained through the addition of the addition sections and the red signal, green signal, and blue signal of the input video signal, respectively.
