      SOLUTION: The optical pulse compressor includes a chirp part 1 including a normal dispersion fiber which provides a positive chirp to an incident pulse, and a dispersion compensation part 2 including an anomalous dispersion fiber. A nonlinear coefficient and an absolute value of a second-order group velocity dispersion of the anomalous dispersion fiber which constitute the dispersion compensation part 2 is set such that a soliton order becomes one or more. Therein, a fiber length of anomalous dispersion fiber is equal to or smaller than the length required for optical soliton formation.
