    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the yield of the fixation member which fixes optical fibers in V grooves and connects them by previously forming a thin set layer on the top surface of a low-melting-point glass which can deform at a specific temperature and machining the V grooves by a press at the same time. SOLUTION: A V groove block 1 made of a plate type low-melting-point glass material which is cut into a specific size deforms plastically in conformity with the pattern part 3a of an upper die part 3 which is operated with a specific pressure. Thin film set layers 2 are previously formed by vapor deposition, etc., on the top and reverse surfaces of the V groove block 1. The V groove block 1 after being set on the lower die part 4 of a press mold is raised in temperature up to 400-700 deg.C in a relatively short time and while this temperature is maintained, the V groove die part 3a of the upper die part 3 is pressed against the thin film set layer 2 of the V groove block 1. Then, the temperature is lowered with a temperature gradient more gentle than the temperature rise gradient. Consequently, releasing property is improved to lower a defective generation rate and improve the yield.

The molding die 21 has a first press-forming face 22a-1 to press the region of the effective diameter of the molded article 28 and a second press-forming face 22b-1 to press the region outside the effective diameter of the article 28, and the columnar first die 22a constituting the first press- forming face 22a-1 is fitted in the cylindrical second die 22b constituting the second press-forming face 22b-1. The first die 22a is made of a material having a larger heat contraction coefficient than the second die 22b.

    • PURPOSE:Not only to prevent pinholes from enlarging in size due to the corrosion of a metal layer but also obtain a laminated element with no defective connection by a method wherein a corrosion preventing layer high in corrosion resistance is formed on a metal layer. CONSTITUTION:A laminated element is composed of a substrate 10, a first metal layer 14 formed on the substrate 10, and a second metal layer 20, whose ionization energy is different from that of the first metal layer 14, formed on the first metal layer 14, where a corrosion preventing layer 22 provided with a corrosion resistant property is formed on the second metal layer 20. And, the laminated element is a magnetoresistance element, where the first petal layer 14 is formed of a ferromagnetic material. Therefore, the metal layer 20 is protected against corrosion when a photoresist used for the formation of a pattern of the metal layer 20 is separated off. By these process, pinholes are prevented from enlarging in size and the laminated element free from the defective connection can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal head easy to manufacture wherein the outer profile of a heating resistor is substantially rectilinearly shaped to greatly contribute to enhancing printing quality, by a method wherein of a fired heating resistor, a part lying on the outside of a small width groove window is stripped off. CONSTITUTION:In order that parts 4a to be removed can be easily removed in a continuous form by an adhesive tape, a resistor paste is so applied that the average width W2 of the part extending to the outside of the width of the groove window 6a of the heating resistor 4 is preferably not less than 0.05mm. It is suitable that the film thickness of the resistor 4 is not more than 20mum, and a sufficient effect is not obtaind if the thickness of a thin photosensi tive resin film 6 is not more than 0.5mum. Where the thickness of the resistor 4 is, for example, 5-#6mm, if the thickness of the film 6 is more than 2mum, and end part of a main body part of the resistor 4 to be left might be removed together with the film 6 by a 'ligt-off' action. After firing, the part 4a to be removed is stipped off by the adhesive tape, whereby a belt form heating resis tor 4 having substantially rectilinear major sides is provided.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a pitch between V grooves after formation by using the shape measurement device of a non-contact type by the reflected light of a laser beam or the like by simultaneously press-working a flat part at a dent bottom part between the V grooves at the time of press-working the V grooves by using a V groove die. SOLUTION: At the V groove block 1 of a low fusing point glass material which is this optical fiber fixing member, a thin film hardened layer 2 is formed beforehand. The V groove block 1 is set on the lower die part of a press die and a temperature is raised from 400 to 700 deg.C. The upper die part 3 of the press die provided with the flat part 3a-1 on the peak part of a V groove die part 3a is press-worked on the V groove block 1 by a prescribed pressure. The V groove and the flat part 2a-1 of the dent bottom part of the V groove are simultaneously formed. By performing scanning by the laser beam so as to cross the formed V groove block 1, the rectangular wave K1 of a width corresponding to a width dimension is obtained only at the flat part 2a-1 and the pitch P between the flat parts 2a-1 is measured.

    • PURPOSE:To enable automatic confirmation of the proper mounting and positioning of a glass gob on a lower cavity by providing a light-receiving means to detect the absence of a molding object on a cavity by receiving light from a light-emission means having a specific structure. CONSTITUTION:A scanning laser source 5 is placed out of a lower mold at the level of the upper face of the mold to irradiate glass gobs 4, 4A, 4B, 4C with laser light through plural reflection mirrors 11, 11A, 11B, 11C. A laser light receiving apparatus (light receiving means) 12 is placed out of the lower mold at the level of the upper face of the mold. If the glass gobs 4, 4A, 4B, 4C are not properly mounted or positioned on the lower cavity 3, the laser beams reflected from the all or a part of the plural opposite reflection mirrors 11, 11A, 11B, 11C are straightly received by the light receiving apparatus to detect the absence of the glass gob 4C on the lower cavity 3. The work is immediately stopped when the glass gob 4C is judged not to be properly mounted or positioned on the cavity from the detection result.
