    • PURPOSE:To make sewage water treatment with high efficiency by using a specific microorganism carrier in a treatment tank to hold microorganisms at a high concn., introducing sewage water into said tank from the lower part and supplying air thereto, thereby treating the sewage water under aerobic conditions. CONSTITUTION:The hollow cylindrical microorganism carrier formed by entangling fibers of nylon, etc., three-dimensionally and bonding at least part of the contact parts of said fibers with each other is packed into the packing part 2 of the treatment tank 1 at 50-80% volumetric ratio and the microorganisms are fixed to said carrier. The sewage water is introduced from a sewage water introducing pipe 4 into the treatment tank 1 from the lower part and the air is supplied into the treatment tank 1 from the lower part thereof by an air diffusion pipe 3 to treat the sewage water under the aerobic conditions; thereafter, the treated water is discharged from the upper part of the treatment tank 1. As a result, the sticking and propagating of the microorganisms to the carrier are quickly and surely executed and the timing for starting the regular operation is shortened to a greater extent. In addition, the amt. of the microorganisms to be held is increased and the sewage water treatment is executable with the high efficiency.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to efficiently separate a reaction product substance, by sterically entangling fine wiry materials consisting of a microbial carrier, binding at least part of mutual contact parts of the wiry materials and using the resultant wiry materials for a bioreactor. CONSTITUTION:A biological reaction substrate is introduced into a reaction tank filled with a microbial carrier and microorganisms to carry out microbial reaction and take out the biological reaction product. In the process, the microbial carrier is constituted of fine wiry materials obtained by sterically entangling the materials and binding at least part of the mutual contact parts thereof and having complicated space are used to keep the microbial carrier and the microorganisms in an immobilized state. The reaction tank is divided into many stages by effective partition plates, and the microbial carrier having a large particle diameter is filled in the first stage. The microbial carrier is filled in the respective stages so that the particle diameter in the stages may vary with the stages one after another decreasing toward the final stage.
