    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method which enable the copying of the original image of a previous page or a next page on the non-image surface of a one-sided original without causing miscopying when sorting operation of the one-sided original, and the effective reuse of the one-sided original to be discarded essentially as double-sided copying paper. SOLUTION: When the number of copies is one in the case of performing the double- sided copying of the one-sided original, only the image of the even-numbered sheet of the one-sided original is read, and then the one-sided original ejected to an original ejection tray is stacked on a manual feeding tray as it is, and the read image of the even-numbered sheet is copied on the non-image surface of the odd-numbered sheet of the one-sided original, and the even-numbered one-sided original is ejected as it is. When the number of copies is two, all the images of the one-sided original are read, and then the one-sided original ejected to the original ejection tray is stacked on the manual feeding tray as it is, and the read image of the even-numbered sheet being the next page is copied on the non-image surface of the odd-numbered sheet of the one-sided original, while the read image of the odd-numbered sheet being the previous page is copied on the non-image surface of the even-numbered sheet of the one-sided original.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device capable of attaining complete sealing against a developer by using magnetic brushes. SOLUTION: The developing device comprises a developing container, a developer carrier 10 having a magnetic field generating means for forming a repulsing magnetic pole and rotating in a state where the developer is held, and magnetic members provided at the end parts of the developer carrier 10, with fixed gaps to the periphery of the carrier 10. The respective magnetic pole N or S of the plate-like magnet 26 is arranged so that the direction of the boundary line is the direction of the sum of a vector that indicates the carrying direction of the developer and a vector being in parallel with the axial direction of the rotation of the carrier 10 and going to the inside of the developing container and the direction where an inclination to the carrying direction of the developer is 5 deg.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device which maintains the concentration of toner in a developing vessel regardless of throughout condition. SOLUTION: The developing device includes a toner concentration sensor (toner concentration detecting means) 7 which detects the toner concentration of two-ingredients developer in a developing vessel 9a, and supplies toner according to the detection signal generated by the toner concentration sensor 7. In this case, control coefficient which is used to calculate an amount of the toner supply based on the detection signal is variable according to toner supplying intervals. The control of toner supply to the developing device 9 is variable according to throughput condition, so that the toner concentration in the developing vessel 9a can always keep constant and keep a stable output image concentration regardless of throughout condition.
