摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress ink leakage to the outside by arranging a buffer chamber to a side face part of an absorbing member and setting a direction towards the buffer chamber from the absorbing member to be a direction intersecting a scanning direction of a carriage. SOLUTION: An ink tank 102 has an ink storage part for storing ink to be supplied to a recording head which records by discharging ink, an absorbing member for holding ink, an atmosphere communication opening for communicating the inside of the ink storage part to the atmosphere, and a buffer chamber which is arranged in the vicinity of the atmosphere connection opening and can temporarily store ink. The buffer chamber is arranged in a direction intersecting a scanning direction of a carriage. The absorbing member 110 is shaped like a projection with opposite two faces bulging outward. A bottom face buffer chamber 121 is set between the absorbing member 110 and an ink tank bottom face, in which ink can be temporarily stored. The buffer chamber and the bottom face buffer chamber 121 are communicated with each other via a gap 131.
