    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of achieving flow reading operation and fixed reading operation by providing a flow reading region and a fixed reading region on a transparent plate and to provide an image forming device provided with the image reader to scoop up a document conveyed in the direction toward the fixed reading region on the flow reading region satisfactorily while suppressing reduction of strength of the transparent plate. SOLUTION: A tip 52a on the left side (a flow reading region 51a side) of a scooping-up member 52 is fitted into a bottomed hole 51c provided at the center in the direction of width between the flow reading region 51a and the fixed reading region 51b of a platen glass 51. A left side end fringe 52b other than the tip 52a of the scooping-up member 52 is obliquely arranged toward the downstream side in the direction of document conveyance from the tip 52a. For this reason, the document is first abutted on the tip 52a to scoop up the document without being caught because the tip 52a is extended downward more than an upper face of the platen glass 51.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize an image reading apparatus having a still original reading function and an automatically fed original reading function, while preventing a dark shade formed on a read image from being formed while the still original document reading function is being performed. SOLUTION: An original cover 15 for still original reading is arranged so as to be movable on a cover portion 10b, and a paper-through port is opened or closed by moving the original cover 15. Also provided is an original cover 40 for automatically fed original reading used for moving the original cover 15 and pressing an automatically fed original at an original reading position on a platen glass 14 when the paper-through port is opened. When the original cover 15 is moved to bring the paper-through port into a closed state when a still original is read, a problem wherein the paper-through port is read as a dark shade and a dark shade is formed on the read original, is prevented. Therefore, effective light shielding effect can be attained by double thickness of the elastic thin light shielding films 15, each of which is independently flexible elastically, when the two thin elastic light shielding films 15 are arranged so as to be overlapped to each other.

SOLUTION: An ink jet head 31 has a plurality of nozzles 31b injecting ink by the driving of piezoelectric elements and these nozzles 31b are arranged at a definite interval in the sub-scanning direction crossing a main scanning direction at a right angle. One nozzle 31b is selected by the recording density changeover circuit 59 of a control part 51 and paper is subjected to sub-scanning at the recording pitch being the reciprocal of recording density and, at every main scanning, dot data of a sub-scanning direction address of a rear stage is successively outputted to the selected nozzle 31b from dot data of the head address of a sub-scanning direction address to perform printing. By this constitution, recording quality is held to a high state without generating width difference in the intervals between recording dots.
