    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the work efficiency of corona-discharge treatment, by giving flexibility to at least a part of a discharge portion for corona-discharge treating surfaces of a building material to which a sealing material is applied. SOLUTION: A discharge treatment machine 1 comprises a body part 2 to be held by hand by a worker and an electrode 3 projecting forward from an end of the body part 2. The electrode 3 is made up of a flexible coil electrode so that discharge treatment can be carried out even if a gap between treated surfaces 4a, 4a of a building material 4 is narrow and winding. A power supply unit 6 is connected to the body part 2 via a cable 5. The electrode 3 mounted on a support rod 7. The electrode 3 is covered by a flexible tube made of an insulating synthetic rubber such as silicone rubber. Ends of the tube are sealed with a similar synthetic rubber. Not only the tube ends, but also the whole interior of the tube can be filled with silicone rubber or the like. Even a narrow and winding joint is efficiently discharge-treated.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring out a highly intensified adhesive strength, by applying a sealing material after a treatment of corona discharge between a corona discharge electrode and a metallic panel has been executed on the resin-coated surface of the metallic panel. SOLUTION: In a corona discharge treatment, a metallic panel is grounded through an indirect earth method or two or more corona discharge electrodes the AC potential phases of which are shifted mutually, are combined. In this indirect earth method, these corona discharge electrodes 3 are installed above the metallic panel 1 coated with a resin film 2. The electrodes 3 are connected to a high tension AC electric source 4 and a conductive body 7 of the front end of a branch line 6 is positioned to contact the resin film 2. A corona discharging gap 8 is formed between the electrodes 3 and metallic panel 1. After a discharge treatment has been applied on the resin film 2, a sealing material is executed directly or after a primer has been applied when necessary. Accordingly, labor for grounding and demerits resulting from grounding in the corona discharge treatment can be avoided.
