    • PURPOSE:To increase the range of the use and improve the automatic reaquisition performance after losing of the target, by providing plural edge gates, which function independently of one another, at upper, lower, left, and right edges of the target on a screen and by detecting edge signals to track always the center point of the target. CONSTITUTION:The video signal obtained by image pickup machine 1 is supplied to horizontal edge detecting circuit 2 and vertical edge detecting circuit 3. In horizontal edge detecting circuit 2, left and right edge signals of the target are detected by left edge detecting circuit 21 and right edge detecting circuit 22 and are supplied to horizontal error signal generating circuit 23, and horizontal shift is detected and is output to control part 4. Meanwhile, in vertical edge detecting circuit 3, upper and lower edge signals of the target are detected by upper edge detecting circuit 31 and lower edge detecting circuit 32 and are supplied to vertical error signal generating circuit 33, and vertical shift is detected and is output to control part 4. Control part 4 controls horizontal and vertical directions of image pickup machine 1 according to these signals.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the influences from an obstacle by providing a corelation processing circuit to take the corelation of laser reflected signals and by renewing and storing the time information of the reflected signals so that the time information of the reflected signals finally obtained is read out as the range information of an object. CONSTITUTION:The periodically repeated laser pulse beams transmitted from a laser illuminator 1 acting as a transmitter are reflected on an obstacle or a true object to reach a receiver 2, where they are converted into electric signals which are then fed to a corelation processing circuit 3. By noticing that the unnecessary signals far from the true object are accidentally obtained by the rocking motions of the transmitter, the corelation processing circuit 3 extractes the signal components, which are received at the same reception timing for each peroid, from the laser received signals repeatedly received for a preset period and feeds them to a range counter. This counter is composed of elements from a counter memory 4 to a range indicator 10 so that the range information corresponding to the final signals reflected from the object is read out as the that of the object from the reflected signals of the circuit 3 and is displayed in the indicator 10.
