摘要： PURPOSE: To provide a multi-strand steel cord which has the maximum reinforcing effect by impregnating the steel cord with sufficient rubber. CONSTITUTION: The steel cord 10 has a diameter D and includes a core strand 12 and up to nine peripheral strands 14 surrounding the core strand. The core strand has a diameter D1 and the peripheral strands 14 have a diameter D2. The ratio core strand diameter to peripheral strand diameter D1/D2 is greater than a predetermined value in order to enable rubber penetration. Each strand has a center of one or more center filaments 16 and 22 and two or more filaments 18, 20, 24 and 26 surrounding the center. The twist angle of a radially outer layer is smaller than the twist angle of a radially inner layer of the same strand. A first free space 28 ranging from 0.0015D to 0.0075D is provided in at least the core strand between each pair of filaments 18 of the radially most inner layer.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a multi-strand steel cord for reinforcing a rubber at a good productivity by twisting plural strands formed by twisting plural wires simultaneously in a same direction at a same pitch. SOLUTION: This multi-strand steel cord 10 for reinforcing a rubber formed by twisting >=8 strands each consisting of 2-5 wires 18, is constituted by forming at least one central part strand 12 by using a larger diameter and larger number of wires than those of wires constituting outside strands 14 and having a larger strand diameter than that of the outside strand 14, and all of the outside strands 14 are constituted by having a same diameter, a same wire diameter and a same number of wires to obtain a 12 × n-type multi-strand steel cord by twisting 3 central strands 12 and 9 outside strands 14 in a same direction and at a same pitch. Besides, by setting 1 or 3 central strands 12, 6 or 9 middle strands and 12 or 15 outside strands 14, a 19 × n-type or a 27 × n-type multi- strand cord is formed.
