    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DC power converter for suppressing transient current generated in switching an operation mode, such as at the start of power conversion.SOLUTION: The DC power converter has an upper snubber circuit 51 and a lower snubber circuit 52, in which serial circuits of a snubber capacitor 6 and a snubber diode 7 are provided, in parallel with an upper main switch 31 and a lower main switch 32, respectively and an auxiliary switch 8 is connected between a connection point of the snubber capacitor 6 and the snubber diode 7 and a DC power supply 1 via a reactor 21. Of the upper snubber circuit and the lower snubber circuit, one of the main switches is switched periodically, from a state where an inter-terminal voltage of the snubber capacitor 6 of the one snubber circuit 5 is the output of the DC power converter and an inter-erminal voltage of the snubber capacitor 6 of the other snubber circuit 5 is zero; and in this case, the switching starts at an activation frequency lower than a predetermined switching frequency in steady state.
