    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a cast iron brake block for a railway vehicle capable of eliminating the dispersion of product quality by disposing the ceramic blocks cast in the brake block on the braking friction surface at a proper position and stabilizing and increasing the brake performance of the brake block.
      SOLUTION: A rear plate 2 is disposed on the lower mold 16 side inside a cavity K formed of an upper mold 25 and the lower mold 16. A ceramics block 8 is slidably pierced into a guide bar 10 projecting from the rear plate 2 toward the brake friction surface-formed surface 26 of the upper mold 25. After the molds are clamped, a molten metal 27 is supplied into the cavity K. By the molten metal 27, the ceramics block 8 is floated to the brake friction surface-formed surface 26 due to a difference in specific gravity along the guide bar 10 until one surface of the ceramics block 8 is brought into contact with the brake friction surface-formed surface 26. The cast iron block 3 is manufactured with the ceramics block 8 brought into a cast state.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disc brake device for a vehicle which can suppress thermal stress generated in a friction surface of a brake disc so as to prevent generation of deformation such as thermal cracking or thermal deformation of the brake disc, damages in fastening bolts or the like.
      SOLUTION: In the disc brake device for a vehicle in which one side surface of the brake disc for the vehicle is the friction surface, the friction surface 3A and a fastening surface 3B are arranged apart from each other via a connecting portion 3C in a distance which is apart by 3%-50% of the radius of the brake disc outer circumference in the direction of an axle shaft of the vehicle.
