    • PURPOSE:To stably hold friction pads and radionalize a space for setting parts, in a brake where the friction pads of lining part are mounted to the periphery of a web forming a brake shoe main unit, by forming a section of the web to open end squared shape. CONSTITUTION:A pad-type drum brake is separately formed into a brake shoe main unit and lining part, and the shoe main unit is formed by only a web 10 simultaneously the lining part is formed to friction pads 11 protrusively provided with a friction material on a backing metal, then the friction pads 11 are removably mounted to the periphery of the web 10. Here a sectin of said web 10 in the drum rotational direction is formed to open end squared shape, and width H of a receiving surface 10a for the friction pad 11 is arranged larger than plate thickness of the web 10. In this way, the friction pad 11 can be stably held and parking mechanism can be built in internal space S' of the web 10, further a margin of spaces for other parts can be provided.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the space occupying in the inner part of the brake drum of an adjusting device by bringing a wedge member into engagement between a guide plate supported by a pin on one brake shoe and a strut disposed between the guide plate and the shoe. CONSTITUTION:When a brake is operating, a strut 4 is drawn near to the right hand by a spring 23, and a guide plate 19 is drawn near to the right hand by means of a spring 16 by a clearance (c). However, when a pin 33 hits the right end part of a long hole 21, the guide plate 19 can no more move. Whe the lining wears out and the brake clearance increases, the right hand moving distance of the strut 4 becomes larger than the right hand moving distance of the guide plate 19, a clearance is produced between the inner end edge of the split groove of the strut 4 and the wedge plate 22, and the wedge plate 22 is drawn near to the clearance and the clearance is covered thereby. Accordingly, the return quantity of the brake shoe is reduced by a part corresponding to the downward moving distance of the wedge member 22, and the brake clearance is adjusted.

    • PURPOSE:To simplify the shape of a support and reduce the weight thereof by designing the support in such a manner that a brake torque is received at the support at forward drive and the brake torque is received at the support via a caliper at rear drive. CONSTITUTION:A support 3 is fixed to a fork 1 of a motorcycle at one side of a rotor 2 which is integrally attached to a wheel and a guide pin 5 and a lock pin 10 are squeezed into the support 3 to fix thereto in the revolutional direction of the rotor at positions outside and inside of a diameter of the rotor 2, respectively. Using those pins 5, 10, a caliper 14 is movably fit and inner and outer frictional pads 25, 26 are attached to the caliper 14 at both sides of the rotor 2, supported by a pad support pin 23. The one side face of the frictional pad 25 is made in opposed contact with a torque receiving side face 4 of the support 3 and a projection 6 of the guide pin 5 is inserted through a hole of an arm 27 which is projected on one side face of the frictional pad 26.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent an adjustment lever from touching a bearing housing and the like by bending a single plate of the adjustment lever to provide arms extended mutually at almost right angles on their ends and keeping a fixed interval between plate faces of these arms. CONSTITUTION:For an adjustment lever 3, a single plate is bent to provide arms 3a and 3b extended mutually at almost right angles on their ends, and plate faces of these arms are kept opposite to each other at a fixed interval. Consequently, the arm 3a is laid on a web 8 of a brake shoe and supported by a pivot 16 to be capable of turning, while the arm 3b is brought near to the face of a rear plate 11 from the plate face of the web 8 and extended along a strut 4 between the strut 4 and the rear plate 11 to be engaged with a ratchet wheel 18. This construction permits to promote the rigidity and strength of a device and arrange arms 3a and 3b laid on the web 8 and supported to be rotatable without touching other members in a smaller space.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized mechanical drum brake and facilitate its installation by instralling a wheel cylinder and a parking mechanism on the outside of a packing plate and permitting a service brake and a parking brake to be used jointly by a link device. CONSTITUTION:A wheel cylinder 9 is fixed through a bracket 8 on the outside of a packing plate 1, and a toggle lever 11 is pivotally supported by a pin 10 whose axis is rotatably supported on the pinholder 8a integrally constituted with said braket 8. One end of said lever 11 is urged in the return direction by a spring 14, and the piston rod 9a of the wheel cylinder 9 is connected at the position close to the edge part described above through a pin 11c inserted into an elliptical hole 9b on the piston rod 9a. One end of a parking cable 13 is pivotally engaged with the other end of the lever 11, and the other end of the connecting link 12 which interlocks with the operating links 16 and 16' for spreading a pair of brake shoes 2 is pivotally engaged with a pin 11b between the pivotal engagement part described above and the pivotally engaged part by a pin 10.

      CONSTITUTION: When the brake is operated by liquid pressure, an adjusting lever 21 receives tension of an adjusting spring 20 and is turned clockwise around the center of a supporting shaft 6 to press leftward a strut 14 engaged at the place of a hole 25 and allow the strut to follow up a brake shoe 1 at the left side. Then a relative motion is caused between a bracket 23 supporting a parking brake lever 9 and the axial line of socket 22, then only the strut 14 is moved while the parking brake lever 9 is left in its position.

    • PURPOSE:To entirely prevent a piston seal ring from the accident to bite into the inlet passage by constituting that pressured liquid from a master cylinder device can give strokes to a piston of an auxiliary cylinder at the initial stage of brake operation. CONSTITUTION:Connection of an auxiliary cylinder device 43 midway upon a duct line 33-35 to combine a master cylinder device 32 with wheel cylinder devices 36, 38 facilitates pressure liquid from the device 32 to give a stroke delta of a piston 46 to the cylinder 43 at the initial stage of the brake controls. In consequence, even if the pistons to the devices 36 and 38 are in protruded condition, no case is found such that liquid pressure in the liquid chamber of the device 32 may suddenly rise with the control of the brake, it can prevent a seal ring 8 on a piston 24 from the accident to bite into the inlet passage 5 by abrupt pressure rise in the liquid chamber 21 which has so often caused on the conventional master cylinder device.
