    • PURPOSE:To improve durability of a bellows by a method wherein the expandable part of the bellows is composed of a thick section part and a thin section part and the pitch of the thick section part is reduced to a value lower than that of the thin section part. CONSTITUTION:When an input shaft 9 is rotated with the aid of a prime mover and a rod 8 is vertically driven through a roller 20 on an eccentric shaft part 13 located at a shaft end, a bellows 4 is expanded and contracted through a moving support 6. Fluid sucked through a suction port 19 during the increase of the volume of a chamber 7 is delivered through a delivery port 21 during reduction of the volume of the chamber 7. In this case, a bellows 4 (41) has an expanding and contracting part composed of a part 41a with a thin section and a part 41b with a thick section and the pitch of the part 41b with a thick section is reduced to a value lower than that of the part 41a with a thin section. This constitution prevents rapid adhesion of the thin section part 41a to the thick section part 41b compression of the bellows 4 and provides an increased repeat life for the bellows 4.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the noise of a supercharger proper mounted on an automobile engine by avoiding the resonance of the air generated in the suction and exhaust pipes over the whole rotating area within a supercharger by way of providing the supercharger with the suction and exhaust pipes the lengths of which are variable. CONSTITUTION:A supercharger 2, which is driven by an engine 1 with the aid of a belt 8, compresses the air sucked through suction pipes 9, 10 from an air cleaner 5, and then supplies it through an exhaust pipe 11 to the engine 1. In this case, for example, the suction pipes 9, 10 are provided with a polymerization section 13, such as a screw driving mechanism. In addition, in response to the number of revolutions of the supercharger 2 is transmitted a required signal l1 from a control box 14 to a motor 15 so that the polymerization section 13 is caused to expand and contract so as to vary the pipe length l of the suction pipes 9, 10. Thereby, the resonance of the air generated in the suction pipes 9, 10 over the whole rotating area within the supercharger 2 can be avoided, and accordingly, the noise of the supercharger 2 proper can be reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the noise of a supercharger proper mounted on an automobile engine by expanding the air at a branch point and compressing the air at a confluence point by way of causing the suction or exhaust pipe of a supercharger to branch off before being confluent together, and at the same time, by causing the maxima and minima of a pulsation wave to be superimposed. CONSTITUTION:A supercharger 2, which is driven by an engine 1 with the aid of a belt 8, compresses the air sucked through a suction pipe 9 from an air cleaner 5, and then supplies it through an exhaust pipe 10 to the engine 1. In this case, the suction pipe 9 is caused to branch off into a main pipe 9a and a branch pipe 13 at a branch point 12, and further, both pipes 9a, 13 are caused to be confluent together again at a confluence point 14 so as to be one intake pipe 9b again. Thereby, if it is designed such as to cause the maxima and minima of a pulsation wave at the confluence point 14 for the air flowing through the intake pipe 9 to be superimposed, a noise reduction effect can be obtained. And accordingly, the noise of the supercharger 2 proper, which is to be added to the engine noise, can be reduced.
