    • PURPOSE:To detect the incident angle of light by holding a light absorptive dye in place between a front face electrode and rear face electrode, allowing light to be absorbed by the light absorptive dye and calculating the optical path length from the quantity of the light absorption. CONSTITUTION:This optical sensor is constituted by holding the light absorptive dye layer 3 which receives and transfers electrons at the boundary face with the electrodes by light absorption in place between the front face electrode 1 and the rear face electrode 2 which are transparent to incident light. The front face electrode 1 is a transparent conductive film consisting of an indium tin oxide, etc. The light absorptive dye layer 3 formed on a glass substrate 4 is a dry film formed by vacuum deposition, coating, etc., or is otherwise in a soln. state. The dye layer 3 is sealed between the two electrodes 1 and 2 by using a member 5 in common use as a spacer in the case of the soln. The film itself has thickness accuracy if the dye layer 3 is the dry film and, therefore, the film serves as a sealing member 5 for sealing. The outputs from the electrodes 1, 2 are introduced through taking out terminals 7, 8 to an arithmetic circuit 9. The incident angle of light is detected by calculating the optical path length in the circuit 9 in accordance with the quantity of the light absorption.
