摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel mechanoluminescent material by using a europium complex film obtd. by reacting a europium salt with a thiophene driv. and a phenanthroline deriv. in the presence of a sodium hydroxide. SOLUTION: This material is a polymer film with a thickness of 20μm or lower contg. a europium complex represented by the formula (wherein R and R are each H or an optionally substd. hydrocarbon group). The hydrocarbon group includes alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, and aralkyl groups. The alkyl group is pref. a 1-6C, pref. a 1-4C, alkyl; the cycloalkyl group, pref. cyclohexyl; the aryl group, pref. phenyl or tolyl; and the aralkyl group. pref. benzyl or phenetyl. Examples of the substituent on the hydrocarbon group are sulfo, carboxyl, hydroxyl, acyl, alkoxycarbonyl, and acyloxy groups.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the rate of area of luminescent portions by decreasing intervals between organic EL elements. SOLUTION: This organic EL display device is made by arranging a plurality of organic EL elements 2. In the organic EL element 2, elements 7 each having an organic layer 6 including a luminescent layer sandwiched between a positive electrode 4 including wire 4a and negative electrodes 6 including wire 6a are formed as films on a substrate 3, and connection points P of the wires 4a, 6a are placed between luminescent parts 8 of the elements 7. A lid-shaped sealing member 9 is sealingly attached to a peripheral part of the substrate 3 to form a box-shaped enclosure 11 with a dry atmosphere kept in the interior. Terminals 13 each made up of a metallic pin are put through and fixed to through-holes 12 in the sealing member 9 so as to make contact with the wires 4a, 6a of the pair of electrodes 4, 6 at the connection points P.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element keeping stable light emitting characteristic over a long period. SOLUTION: This organic EL element comprises a desiccant which chemically adsorbs moisture and also works as a fixing agent for other physical desiccants and chemical desiccants, and this desiccant can suppress the growth of a dark spot without having a bad effect on the organic EL element because it is chemically stable. This organic EL element has a layered product having a structure in which an organic EL material is nipped between a pair of mutually opposed electrodes, an airtight casing for protecting the layered product from the external atmosphere, and a drying member for preventing the contamination of the organic EL material layer with moisture. The drying member is formed of an organic metal compound.

SOLUTION: This organic EL(electroluminescence) element 1 composed by layering an organic layer 5 including a luminous layer between a positive electrode 3 and negative electrodes 6 is equipped with a plurality of pairs of insulating ribs 9, each pair being formed on the positive electrode 3 or close to the positive electrode 3 and juxtaposed at a fixed distance H in each of isolating positions for insulatingly isolating the positive electrode 3 into two or more. Since each pair of ribs 9 cuts an evaporated negative electrode material with the distance H, the insulating property is improved between the negative electrodes 6 situated in areas on both sides of each of the juxtaposed ribs 9. Since the distance H insulates the negative electrodes 6 from each other, the insulation can be achieved surely and easily without using ribs too high to form or oblique evaporation from the lateral side of ribs 9. Since evaporation can be performed substantially from right above the rib 9 without using the oblique evaporation from the lateral side of ribs 9, flexibility can be increased in the disposition of the ribs 9 or in a pattern of the negative electrodes 6.

In the formula (1), R represents an organic compound containing alkyl group, aryl group, cycloalkyl group, heterocyclic group, or acyl group having one or more of carbons, and M represents trivalent metal atom.
