    • A side airbag apparatus 23 includes an airbag 27 and a guide member 30, which guides inflation and deployment of the airbag 27. The airbag 27 is fixed to a right side wall 24a of a seat frame 24. A part of the airbag 27 protrudes further forward than a front end 24A of the right side wall 24a. The airbag 27 is supplied with gas from an inflator 26, so as to be inflated and deployed in a space between a body side portion of a vehicle and an occupant seated in a front seat 21. The guide member 30 guides the airbag 27 forward when it is inflated and deployed. The guide member 30 includes a guide portion 30c and a first bending portion 30a, which extends from the guide portion 30c. The guide portion 30c is arranged to face a surface of the airbag 27 facing the interior of the vehicle at least in an area forward of the right side wall 24a. The first bending portion 30a is flexed rightward when receiving load from the left. Also, the first bending portion 30a restricts the guide portion 30c from being flexed leftward when receiving the force of inflation and deployment of the airbag 27.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device capable of reducing a production cost by eliminating sewing work by a sewing thread in order to reduce an aperture area of an insertion hole of an inflater. SOLUTION: The insertion hole 17d into which the inflater 19 and a retainer 20 are inserted is formed on an end of a housing part 17c formed on a base end of an air bag 17. The aperture area of the insertion hole 17d is enlarged, and a crimped cloth part 17e is provided on the housing part 17c. First to third fitting holes 17f, 17g and 17h are formed on the crimped cloth part 17e. After fitting the first fitting hole 17f on a bolt 28 attached on the retainer 20 and abutting the crimped cloth part 17e with the retainer 20, the crimped cloth part 17e is folded into two layers so that the second and the third fitting holes 17g and 17h are overlapped, and the cloth part is fitted to the bolt 28 with the usage of the second and the third fitting holes 17g and 17h, and is crimped so that the aperture area of the insertion hole 17d is reduced.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side air bag device capable of preventing the elbow of any occupant from being pressed excessively to the inside in the vehicle width direction when an air bag is inflated and deployed between the occupant seated on a seat and the side wall of the vehicle body and protecting the breast of the occupant properly. SOLUTION: The side air bag device 17 is installed inside the seat back 15 of the seat 12 provided in the vehicle. A thickness restriction part 22 restricts the thickness in the vehicle width direction of the air bag 18 in its part mating with the elbow Pe of the occupant P in the condition that the air bag 18 to constitute the side air bag device 17 is inflated and deployed ahead of the vehicle in its advancing direction with the gas jetted out of an inflator 19. The elbow Pe is prevented from being pressed by the air bag 18 inflated and deployed excessively to the inside in the vehicle width direction so as to eliminate a pressure being applied to the breast owing to rotation of the occupant's elbow part, and the breast is protected properly.
