Then, the reel motor 17 is controlled so that the reference value and the measured value of the take-up torque of the reel motor 17 may be made equal. Thus, a tape traveling path is simplified.

Meanwhile, the CTL signal is supplied to a CTL signal detecting means 5, and the cycle of a regenerative CTL signal is detected, and the generative CTL signal exceeding a prescribed cycle is judged as a signal nonrecording part. When the tape arrives at the signal nonrecording part, the reel motor 30(31) is controlled so as to be rotated at constant revolu tion speed. In such a manner, it is possible to suppress the damage of the tape received at the time of feeding the tape at high speed to a minimum.
