    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair which permits the reclining of a backrest to be restrained when reclining and the degree of inclination of the backrest to be adjusted by a simple structure without complicating the structure of the backrest itself and a supporting structure of the backrest. SOLUTION: In the chair wherein a vertical intermediate portion of the backrest 6 is pivoted to the upper end of a backrest supporting rod 9 provided rearward inclinably with respect to a supporting base 5 rotatably around the axis roughly facing from left to right, the lower part of the backrest 6 is pushed rearward with respect to the backrest supporting rod 9 at the time when the backrest supporting rod 9 reclines to make the degree of inclination of the backrest 6 adjustable when nobody is sitting on it, by connecting the portion behind the pivot 8 of the backrest supporting rod 9 in the supporting base 5 with the lower portion of the backrest 6 in the portion higher than that portion by an adjustable-length connecting rod 21.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backrest frame mounting structure in a chair, capable of easily and quickly mounting a backrest frame on a support base and preventing the stress concentration on the front end of a front-facing rod in the backrest frame. SOLUTION: The front ends of a pair of left and right arms 13 facing rearward are fixed to the distal end 7a of a pivot penetrating the support base 6. A pin 14 is attached to either one surface facing the intermediate part of a pair of left and right front-facing rods 11 extending forward from the lower end in the vertical direction of a support rod 10 which supports a back panel 8 in the backrest frame 9, or the rear end of the arms 13, and a recessed groove 17 is disposed in the other surface so that the pin 14 is fitted into the recessed groove when the front-facing rods 11 are fitted in the arms 13 from above. The pin 14 is fitted into the recessed groove 17, and the distal end 7a of the pivot is fitted into a recessed groove 18 formed at the upper front end of the front-facing rod 11 from below.
