CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner for a vehicle is composed of a refrigerating cycle 4 in which a refrigerant compressor 20, a refrigerant water heat exchanger 21, a first pressure reducing means 22 and an outdoor heat exchanger 23 are connected in an annular shape to each other and a warm water cycle 5 in which a refrigerant water heat exchanger 21, a warm water heater core 52, an exhaust heat cooler 53 and a water pump 56 are connected in an annular shape to each other and a combustion type heater 55 is connected in parallel to the refrigerant water heat exchanger 21. At warm water heating time of a heat pump, warm water whose temperature is raised by heat of condensation of a refrigerant by the refrigerant water heat exchanger 21 is circulated to the warm water heater core 52, and necessary heating capacity is obtained, and at warm water heating time of a combustion heater, warm water whose temperature is raised by heat of combustion of fuel by the combustion type heater 55 is circulated to the warm water heater core 52, and sufficient heating capacity is obtained even in a cold district.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an intermittently-operated internal combustion engine from deteriorating in exhaust emission by laying a fuel combustor, forming a sub-exhaust passage for the flow of exhaust gases from the combustor in such state as open to a main exhaust passage upstream of an exhaust purification catalyst, and operating the fuel combustor before the operation of the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: In the case of the drop of the residual capacity of a battery 3 to or below the preset value, or the receipt of the start signal of an engine 5 with ECU 36 during the cold operation of the engine 5, a catalyst is identified as activated, when the detection temperature T of an exhaust temperature sensor 8 is equal to or above the prescribed temperature Ta. Then, the engine 5 is immediately started. On the other hand, when the temperature T is lower than the prescribed temperature Ta, a burner unit 11 is first operated, and generated exhaust gases are fed to an exhaust passage 6 via a sub-exhaust passage 14. When the temperature T becomes equal to or higher than the prescribed temperature Ta, due to the heat of the exhaust gases, the engine 5 is started. As a result, an exhaust gas purification catalyst 7 is well activated to increase the exhaust gas purification function thereof, and an exhaust emission is prevented from deteriorating.
