    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piercing terminal connection structure with high reliability and easy to use, capable of connecting a wire having core wires formed by twisting a plurality of element wires without peeling off a cover of the wire.
      SOLUTION: The wire W, formed by covering the core wire Wa, which is formed by twisting a plurality of element wires Wb, by an insulation cover material Wd, is connected to a piercing terminal 20, receiving a connection end of the wire W. Piercing parts 24, 26, contacting with the wire W and piercing into the core wires Wa, while breaking the insulation cover material Wd from lower side, are formed to a bottom wall 27 of a piercing terminal 20, receiving the terminal end part of the wire W. Top end parts 24a, 26a of the piercing parts 24, 26, made to protrude out from the upper part of the wire W by the piercing insertion, are bent downward and caulk the wire.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire with a terminal which can secure a mechanical strength and can prevent a deterioration of a contact resistance as well while the same has a simple terminal structure which is hard to cause a crack, and to provide a manufacturing method of the electric wire with a terminal in which a break off of an electric wire can be prevented during its manufacture.
      SOLUTION: On a conductor barrel 16 of a terminal 10 composing an electric wire with a terminal, there are formed a first crimping portion 16a of a low crimping height, a second crimping portion 16b of a high crimping height, and a relay crimping portion 16c of which the crimping height changes continuously between both of the above crimping portions 61a, 16b. The conductor barrel 16 can be manufactured by using a metal die which has a first pressing surface to correspond with the first crimping portion 16a, a second pressing surface to correspond with the second crimping portion 16b, and a relay pressing surface to correspond with the relay crimping portion 16c.

      SOLUTION: The metal terminal fittings 3 are held in a terminal holding hole 21 of the housing 2 of the connector 1. A connector 31 which fits to a mating terminal 62 is formed in front of the metal fittings 3, a wire barrel 32 which is calked around core wires 41 of an electric wire 4 is disposed backward, and an insulation barrel 33 which is calked around an insulating cover 42 of the electric wire 4 is disposed farther backward. A pair of closely contacting strips 34 are formed behind the insulation barrel 33 of the metal terminal fittings 3, and the closely contacting strips 34 are held in the terminal holding hole 21 in a bent state, and push the inner wall of the terminal holding hole 21 outward to prevent the backlashing of the metal terminal fittings 3 in the terminal holding hole 21 when the metal terminal fittings 3 are held in the terminal holding hole 21.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an electric wire with terminal in which breakage of a core wire by the back end part of a welding tip is prevented at the time of ultrasonic welding of the core wire of the electric wire to a terminal.
      SOLUTION: A step portion 23 recessed in the direction of widening the gap with the pressing surface 13a of the welding tip 13 further than other portion is provided at the wire connecting part 22 of a terminal 21 which is opposed to the back end part 13a of the welding tip 13 for pressing the base part side of an exposed core wire 32. Then, when ultrasonic vibration is given by clipping the core wire 32 and the wire connecting part 22 of the terminal 21 between an anvil 12 and the welding tip 13, the core wire 32 pressed by the back end part 13a of the welding tip 13 is escaped to the region of the step portion, thereby breakage of the core wire 32 due to rapid change generated between the portion of the core wire 32 compressed and the portion not compressed at the boundary portion corresponding to the back end part 13a can be prevented.
