摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for forming a carbon nanostructure on a substrate, capable of forming the carbon nanostructure on a large-area substrate, and further capable of forming the carbon nanostructure at a lower cost than ever before. SOLUTION: The method and the device comprise forming the carbon nanostructure on the substrate by the plasma CVD method. Namely, a substrate S having a catalyst surface cs, or a substrate such as a silicon substrate or the like which does not have a catalyst surface but which can form a carbon nanostructure is set in a vacuum vessel 1. A gas containing a carbon-containing gas (such as methane gas and hydrogen gas as a carrier gas, or methane gas) is introduced into the vessel 1 so that the gas pressure in the vessel 1 is set at pressure required to form the carbon nanostructure. At the same time, the substrate is heated and inductively-coupled plasma is generated from the introduced gas at the set pressure by impressing high-frequency power to a high-frequency discharge antenna 2 installed in the vessel 1, so that the carbon nanostructure is formed on the substrate under the inductively-coupled plasma. SOLUTION: The substrate S on which the catalytic layer C is formed is disposed in a reaction vessel 1, the atmosphere in the vessel 1 is turned to a replacing gas atmosphere, the gas pressure in the vessel 1 is set to pressure lower than CNT-forming gas pressure and the substrate catalytic layer C is heated to a CNT-forming temperature. On the other hand, a gas containing a CNT forming raw material gas is filled and sealed in a gas filling part 5. The gas filled and sealed in the gas filling part 5 is introduced into the vessel 1 all at once based on the difference between the pressure of the filled and sealed gas and the pressure of the gas in the vessel 1 to form the CNT by the thermal CVD method on the catalytic layer C heated by the gas. SOLUTION: A CNT structure is prepared by growing the CNT having a metal catalyst at its tip on a substrate by a plasma CVD method using DC discharge, and then soaking the substrate in a solvent followed by drying. Further, the CNT structure is then manufactured by subjecting the tip of the CNT structure to a similar plasma CVD method to grow the CNT again and to soaking the substrate in a solvent again followed by drying.
