    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a nonwoven fabric containing polyolefin based fibers, which is capable of securing papermaking stability when a fiber web is formed by a wet papermaking method, preventing winding slippage and winding wrinkles, holding a good thickness profile in a width direction, and having strength and a low density, and to provide a separator for a battery including the nonwoven fabric manufactured by the method for manufacturing a nonwoven fabric, which is excellent in liquid-retention properties with a long life.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing a nonwoven fabric containing at least polyolefin based fibers, in which a fiber web formed by a wet papermaking method is press bonded on a Yankee dryer with a touch roll having a clearance adjusting jack attached thereto for adjusting a gap with the Yankee dryer, and a thickness profile in a width direction is controlled by cooling the position of a part of the touch roll necessary for a thickness adjustment with air using air nozzles arranged in a width direction on an upper part of the touch roll while adjusting air quantity according to the thickness profile in the width direction continuously measured. The air nozzles are of a flat type. There is provided a nonwoven fabric obtained by manufacturing a nonwoven fabric by the method for manufacturing a nonwoven fabric. There is provided a separator for a battery obtained by subjecting the nonwoven fabric to a sulfonation treatment for hydrophilization.
