SOLUTION: An engine valve control device is arranged at an outer cylinder 10 to which a drive force of a crankshaft is transmitted so as to be relatively turnable with respect to the outer cylinder, an intermediate member 14 is movably arranged at the external periphery of an inner cylinder 12 connected to a camshaft, balls 46, 48 are moved in mutual reverse directions in response to axial displacement associated with the movement of the intermediate member 14 in a process in which the intermediate member 14 is moved in the axial direction associated with the energization of a solenoid 74 or a solenoid 76, a phase between the outer cylinder 10 and the camshaft 2 is variably adjusted, the movement of the balls 46, 48 is stopped with respect to a torque input from the outer cylinder 10 or the camshaft 2 after the intermediate member 14 is set at an advance position or a retardation position associated with the non-energization of the solenoids 74, 76, and the valve control device of the engine is brought into a self-locked state.
