摘要： PURPOSE:To form the orienting film by a simple device and to reduce the cost by jetting an orienting material from an ink jet nozzle to a substrate where an electrode is formed and forming the orienting film. CONSTITUTION:An XY table 11 is moved in an X direction at a constant speed and the orienting material 15 is jetted from the ink jet nozzle 13 to the substrate 10 to form the orienting film 16 on the substrate 10. Namely, the orienting film 16 is formed by jetting the orienting film 15 from the ink jet nozzle 13, so the process need not be performed in a vacuum device and the orienting material 15 sticks effectively on the surface of the substrate 10, so the material is not wasted and never contaminates the circumference. Consequently, the cost is reduced.

摘要： PURPOSE:To effectively stick an orienting material to a substrate surface by spraying the orienting material from an ink jet nozzle to the substrate on which electrodes are formed, thereby applying this material to the substrate while oscillating the substrate. CONSTITUTION:The substrate 10 on which the electrodes are formed is positioned and fixed onto a holding base 12 provided on an X-Y table 11. The holding base 12 is so constituted as to be oscillated by an oscillating source 13. The orienting material, such as molten resin, in a tank 15 is supplied to the ink jet nozzle 14 provided above the substrate 10. The X-Y table 11 is moved at a specified direction in a direction X and while the orienting material 20 is oscillated, the material is injected from the nozzle 14 to the substrate 10 to form an oriented film 21 on the substrate 10. The oriented film 21 is sagged by its own weight and a pretilt angle alpha is formed. Since the oriented film 21 is formed by the injection from the nozzle 14, there is no need for executing the formation in a vacuum vessel and since the injection is executed in a specified direction, the orienting material 20 to be wastefully used is substantially eliminated.
